We just finished up our third and final temperament testing in 3 weeks!! All I have to say is, we produce some pretty consistent temperaments. 👏🏼
SO much of our pups temperaments is GENETIC! Yes, environmental factors play a huge roll, but selectively choosing the temperaments you want to breed is even more important.
Personally, I like a mellow dog who enjoys being active, but is also content being a couch potato. The dogs in my program are eager to please, obedient, outgoing and affectionate. I don’t have the capacity to deal with a high energy dog, so I chose not to breed for high energy pups!
Of course we occasionally have 1-2 pups in a litter who are either more outgoing or more reserved than their siblings, but they’re not the same as a “hyper” or “extremely shy” pup. We make sure that our families are completely aware of our pups temperaments before their select their new fur-baby.
Give your pup lots of physical AND mental exercise, but most importantly, choose a pup that fits your family dynamics. So many people want to know what pups are available as soon as they’re born, but trust us, waiting for temperament testing is so worth it!
