501(c)(3) promoting feline & canine care, pet adoption, education, pet population reduction, & more.
Bond County Humane Society (BCHS) is based on the core value that all animals deserve to be treated in a humane manner. Dogs and cats with no homes need temporary shelter until a permanent, loving home can be found for them. We believe that awareness and education allows animals and humans to come together, for the benefit of both. BCHS is a no-kill animal shelter and an IRS approved 501(c)3 charitable organization so all donations are tax deductible in accordance with IRS guidelines.

Rumples, the 12 week old dilute tortoiseshell shorthair kitten, found her furever family on Saturday, June 14, 2025 at Petco in Fairview Heights, Illinois. Rumples and her littermates were born to a stray mom who was part of a TNR project, but delivered a week before she was scheduled to be spayed. (Sometimes when a TNR is scheduled in advance like this, a cat doesn’t even act/look pregnant yet!) The kittens stayed with their mom until they were weaned then Bond County Humane Society placed them into a foster home. Rumples was very sweet and polite, sitting on a lap for snuggles with the adults and young children. She really loved to play with some rolling toys. Rumples sure struck gold! Thank you for choosing adoption!! BCHS holds regular pet adoption events at the Fairview Heights Petco on Saturdays AND at our Greenville Shelter Office during public hours.

🚨ATTENTION PET OWNERS 🚨
If you are not 100% committed to making your pet a member of your family through housing changes, new jobs, tragedies, training difficulties, accidents, financial challenges, and any other unexpected life changes, then…
DO NOT OWN A PET!
Pets are a serious commitment. They rely on you for food, water, shelter, vet care, and love. If you buy or adopt an animal, it is not temporary. By rehoming a pet, you uproot them from a stable and loving environment and into uncertainty. This can cause anxiety, lack of confidence, and depression, which makes your pet more difficult to adopt. Not only that, but you take a spot from an animal sitting in a pound on death row. Your poor decision likely cost an innocent animal their life.
Stop buying animals from backyards, neighbors, friends of friends, Craigslist, and Facebook. We cannot afford to pay the vet bills for sick animals that were irresponsibly purchased unvaccinated. Parvo is deadly and preventable. Make responsible decisions and stop the cycle.
Want to have a furry friend in your house that is fully vetted with zero financial responsibility?
FOSTER AN ANIMAL
Contact your favorite local rescue organization and save a life! But remember, fostering is not a way to get a free dog. It is not a trial period before adoption. And it certainly isn't easy.
We are begging you, do not own a pet unless it’s for life. You mean everything to them, so stop treating them like they mean nothing to you.
Be the first to know and let us send you an email when Bond County Humane Society posts news and promotions. Your email address will not be used for any other purpose, and you can unsubscribe at any time.
Cat Shelter / Office public hours are 1:00-5:00pm Mon & Tues, Thurs & Fri. (Sun, Wed by appointment ONLY). Dog Shelter Hours by Appointment ONLY. Animal adoptions are by appointment only in June 2020. Adoption days may vary depending on availability of adoption staff.
We are NOT conducting Meet & Greet Adoption Events at Petco Fairview Heights during June 2020.
Please submit an Adoption Profile Application online or in person at the Cat Shelter Office to expedite the processing of your adoption application for either cats or dogs.
