As discussed in our most recent post, November is National Senior Pet Month. It is also Adopt-a-Senior Pet Month. Older pets have so much love to give, but they often face an uphill battle in finding a forever home. Many people overlook them, thinking they come with health issues or won’t be around as long. But these sweet seniors are usually already house or litter box trained, calmer, and incredibly loyal. Adopting an older pet means giving them the chance to live out their golden years surrounded by love. Consider opening your heart to a senior pet — they might just be the companion you didn’t know you needed! We'll be featuring some seniors from our incredible friends at local shelter and rescue groups in future November posts.

It's November and we are celebrating National Senior Pet Month. Senior pets can and do remain energetic and playful, keeping their puppy/kitten qualities. But their aging process occurs much quicker than ours does. Because of this we need to be more mindful of potential issues as they get older. New lumps and bumps should be investigated and monitored. That slight limp after playing might now be arthritic in nature and need some supplemental or medical intervention. Metabolic diseases become more of a concern with age, so periodic bloodwork is recommended to catch these possibilities early. Even more subtle shifts like a senior food can aid in more vibrant golden years for your pet. You know you can count on NorthPaws to help you navigate your pet's senior health, so please let us know your questions and concerns so we can aid in providing them a long, happy, and healthy life.

And our grand prize winner of a $100 gift certificate is Lucille! Dressed as Jigsaw, she embodied the spirit of Halloween by not only dressing up but being a bit too scary in this picture. Especially if you experienced any of the Saw movies. Again a huge thank you to all that participated. We had as much fun checking out all the submissions as you did dressing your pets.
