Intro to Prong Collar with Cain

When we first introduce the prong collar we take the following steps: get the correct fit for the dog, then slowly let the dog walk around and get used to slight, gentle pressure applied under leash tension. There are no harsh corrections or anything like that. We simply want the dog to get used to wearing the collar and how to relieve the pressure that is applied with leash tension. This is usually done by letting the dog walk around, inevitably leading to them wanting to venture further than leash-length, which applies leash tension and results in slight collar pressure. Once they back up and relieve the leash tension, it also relieves the collar pressure. The handler doesn't even need to move. The dog will move around on its own and learn as it does so. This is the process we use for introducing the prong collar to every dog.
