Meet Kylie, who joined The Standard Dog in November 2023. With 4 1/2 years of experience in the pet world, Kylie’s favorite part of the job is creating strong bonds with all the different pups and seeing their unique personalities shine. ✨

Having worked with animals since high school, she’s never wanted to do anything else! While she loves all dogs, her favorites are Pitbulls and Basset Hounds, but she especially enjoys working with Poodles. Outside of work, Kylie is passionate about giving her German Shepherd mix, Link, the happiest and most enriching life possible. When asked for advice for new team members, Kylie said “Take your time getting to know the dogs, it makes every day unique and full of love!”. 💝

Her go-to song is Kickstart My Heart by Mötley Crüe 🎤 and she says she’s most like a squirrel—always on the go and all over the place! 🐿️If she could travel anywhere, it would be to Bora Bora, and when she’s looking to treat herself, a milkshake from Sheetz is her drink of choice!

Kylie’s love for spending time with pups is her true calling, and we’re lucky to have her as part of our team! 🦴😍🫶

Meet Dani, who joined the team as a Receptionist in December 2024! Dani’s favorite aspect of the job is connecting with the dogs and the people! Though this is her first time professionally working with dogs, Dani has grown up having dogs and has always had a love for animals, particularly dachshunds and Pitt-bulls! You can find Dani up front welcoming all the clients and pups🫶

Outside of work, Dani is most passionate about learning new things from fashion history to how fax machines are made. When it comes to advice for working at The Standard Dog, Dani says, “Ask questions! There’s a how and a why to everything and the more questions you ask the more you can learn!”🙋🏼‍♀️😊

If you’re ever in the mood for karaoke, Danis’s go-to song is “Tears dry on their own” by Amy Winehouse. Dani believes a raccoon best represents her because she considers herself pretty curious and resourceful🦝 If she could travel anywhere, she would choose any amusement park, and to top it all off, her favorite drink is southern sweet tea! 🫖

Next for our employee spotlight, we’re excited to introduce Brynlee, a valued member of our team since December 2023. With over three years of experience working with dogs, including two years as a kennel assistant, Brynlee brings passion to her role.🐾
Her favorite dogs to work with are any type of doodle, but when it comes to breeds, her heart belongs to the German Shorthaired Pointer. Brynlee is also the proud owner of a one-year-old chocolate lab named Remi.🥰
What she loves most about her job is the opportunity to be surrounded by such a variety of dogs every day. When asked what advice she’d give to someone starting at The Standard Dog, she says, “Be prepared to have fun and work hard!”💪
If Brynlee could travel anywhere in the world, she’d head straight to Punta Cana. In her downtime, you might find her singing her favorite karaoke song, Two Dozen Roses by Shenandoah. She says the animal that best represents her is an otter, thanks to their playful and adorable nature.🌊🦦
As for drinks, Brynlee’s go-to is a Monster Energy drink, or even better, a 7-Brew energy drink!
Brynlee loves all types of dogs and she can’t wait to work with yours! We’re so grateful for all the hard work and fun energy Brynlee brings to The Standard Dog! 🫶🤩

Next for our employee spotlight, meet Laylah! She began shadowing with us in September 2023 and officially joined the team in August 2024. A Greenville native, Laylah has always been surrounded by pets and has been pet sitting for 5 years🐾

She loves working with Golden Retrievers, especially the older ones, and has a soft spot for Cavalier King Charles Spaniels and bully breeds. Laylah’s advice for newcomers: “Don’t be afraid to ask questions! We all do it.” While she enjoys all aspects of her job, interacting with so many pups every day is her favorite part. 🐕‍🦺🦮🐩

At home, she has a 4-year-old Holland Lop rabbit named Clover, a 6-month-old bully mix named Rose, and her grandmother’s sassy Chihuahua, Lucy. Outside of work, Laylah loves crocheting, singing, and playing music. 🎶🧶

Her current karaoke favorite is “Defying Gravity” from Wicked. She identifies with ladybugs, a nickname she’s had since childhood. If she could travel anywhere, it would be Ireland or Scotland, inspired by their beauty and her ancestry. Her favorite drinks are Diet Coke, Frappuccinos, and blueberry smoothies.

We’re so lucky to have her on the team—her love for animals and positive energy make her a joy to work with!🥰

We’re excited to introduce a new series where we’ll be shining a light on the amazing people who make The Standard Dog what it is! So far, we’ve featured Lauren and Becky—stay tuned as we highlight each of our team members and the great work they do.

Now introducing Kaylan, who has been with us since July 2024! Kaylan’s favorite part of the job is getting to work with many different breeds, but her favorite breeds are American Bulldogs and pomeranians and her favorite breed to work with is a Great Pyrenees.🐾When asked what advice she would give to someone starting at the Standard Dog, Kaylan said “It might seem like a lot at first but just take a deep breath and take everything nice and slow.”

While Kaylan doesn’t have any dogs at home, she does have five cats, Coco, Sheesh, Druski, Harley and Cowboy. 🐈 🐈‍⬛

Outside of work, Kaylan is most passionate about spending quality time with friends and family. If she could travel anywhere in the world she would choose the Maldives and you might even find her sipping on her favorite drink, A big ole blue gatorade. Kaylan says the animal that represents her the most is a fire ant because she is small but mighty! 💪🏼

Introducing Lauren, who has been on the team since February 2024. Lauren has 4 years of experience with dogs and has a strong love for Labs but she enjoys working on Golden Retrievers the most🐕

Her favorite part of the job is being able to help the dogs and learning new things. A piece of advice she would give to someone starting at The Standard Dog is “Always do your best and have a positive mindset and never be afraid to ask questions or ask for help”.

At home Lauren has many pets including a Labrador Retriever, an American Paint horse, fainting goats and many Holland lop rabbits! Lauren is most passionate about riding her horse Swayzee and showing him off and she feels that her spirit animal is a Husky because she is eager and rambunctious! Lauren always comes in with one of her favorite drinks whether it’s a ghost energy drink or a Dr. Pepper! Fun fact: If Lauren could travel anywhere in the world she would choose Hawaii!

We are so thankful to have such a passionate person on our team like Lauren!

Before the winter weather arrives, stop in to get your snow day essentials! If you're in need of food or snow/ice defense lotion or something to keep your pup busy during the storm we are open and tentatively planning to close around 4 pm today Wednesday 2/19! 🐶

We are monitoring the weather reports and will provide updated hours as things progress. We have already rescheduled as needed for today, as for our clients scheduled for tomorrow and Friday we will continue to monitor the reports and will reach out to reschedule as needed!
