PAW’S FOR SAFETY
I will have a booth at this event and hope to see a lot of you there. Please read the below at let me know if you can donate a basket. 🧺 message me and I will schedule to have it picked up.
Paw's for Safety’s Family Fun Day, being held at the Cook Township Community Center on June 20th, is shaping up to be an amazing day for our community!
We will have vendors inside and outside the building, food vendors, the ice cream truck from Ligonier Creamery a fire truck from Chestnut Ridge VFC, an ambulance from Mutual Aid EMS, and service and therapy dogs ready to visit with everyone throughout the day.
One of these pups, Maverick, serves as a therapy dog at Donegal Elementary School. Two others, Hoyt and Wolfley, regularly visit schools within Mount Pleasant Area School District as well as Yough School District. They have also visited Hempfield Area High School Boys Soccer games and Miss M’s class of extra-special students.
Our pups also spend time visiting our friends at Gene Cook Supports, LLC at The Hub in Monroeville and at The Farm in Tarrs.
We could truly use your help with our fundraising efforts! Would your family or business consider donating a basket for our fundraiser? We would be honored to acknowledge all donations on our social media pages and website as a thank-you for your support. If you aren't in a position to assist with fundraising we ask that you please share this post - help us share it at least 100 times.
Recently, someone asked why we fundraise. The answer is simple — every therapy dog visit we provide is 100% free of charge. While donations are appreciated, they are never expected or requested during visits.
Behind the scenes, however, there are many ongoing costs that help keep our dogs healthy, well-trained, and prepared to serve the community. We have a growing team of young therapy dogs that require monthly grooming to remain in pristine condition for visits, monthly preventative medications to ensure they stay healthy and safe around others, and one of our pups requires prescription dog food that is extraordinarily expensive but essential to keeping him healthy.
In addition, we continually replace and upgrade therapy vests, collars, and leashes due to daily wear and tear. Our dogs and handlers also participate in ongoing training through AKC-certified trainers and educational classes to maintain the highest standards of professionalism, safety, and public readiness.
Fundraising allows us to continue covering these important expenses — along with many additional operational costs that may not occur daily but are still necessary to sustain and grow our mission.
Thank you for supporting Paws for Safety and helping us continue bringing comfort, connection, and support to our communities — one paw at a time.
