🐴✨ THERAPEUTIC THURSDAY ✨🐴
Did you know your horse can suffer from poll tension just like people suffer from tension headaches and neck pain?
In humans, poll tension would compare to pain and tightness at the base of the skull and upper neck — the area that often causes headaches, stiffness, jaw tension, and reduced range of motion.
Now imagine asking someone with a stiff, sore neck to flex, turn, carry themselves correctly, and perform athletically… that’s exactly what many horses experience every day.
❗ Signs your horse may have poll tension:
• Head tossing or resistance
• Difficulty bending or flexing
• Stiffness turning one direction
• Pinning ears during bridling
• Sensitivity when touched near the poll or neck
• Hollowing the back
• Trouble collecting properly
• Resistance stopping or backing
• Acting “fresh,” anxious, or uncomfortable under saddle
Poll tension can negatively affect the entire body. When the poll and upper neck become tight, horses often compensate through their back, shoulders, and hind end. This can lead to poor performance, stiffness, soreness, reduced flexibility, and discomfort.
At Revital Equine, our therapies work together to help release tension, improve circulation, reduce inflammation, and support relaxation and recovery.
🔴 Infrared Light Therapy
Helps target deeper tissues and sore muscles around the poll and neck.
⚡ BEMER Therapy (PEMF)
Supports circulation and muscle relaxation throughout the body.
❄️ Cryotherapy
Helps calm inflammation and soreness in overworked muscles and joints.
Many horses move more freely, relax better, flex softer, and perform more comfortably once poll tension is addressed.
Whether you have a show horse, rodeo horse, trail horse, or backyard companion — comfort matters.
