The Silent Growth Stage Behind Closed Eyes 🤫💤

Big changes are happening—welcome to week two!

Right now, the puppies might still look like little potatoes, but don't let the sleeping fool you. Underneath those closed eyes, their little nervous systems are developing rapidly! 🧠✨

To help them grow into brave, resilient dogs, we have officially started ENS (Early Neurological Stimulation). In this video, you can see me performing these daily exercises with each Miniature Schnauzer puppy. This gentle stimulation helps them handle stress better, boosts their cardiovascular health, and strengthens their immune systems for life. 🐾💪

Remember the 'Lunch Rush' crew from earlier this week? 🐾🍼

They're already growing so fast!

Miniature Schnauzer puppies can actually double their weight in just 7 days. Watch how much bigger (and louder!) they've gotten since my last update. Lilly is still the best mama, but her 'dairy bar' is getting more crowded by the minute!

Which one do you think is going to be the biggest? Let me know in the comments! 👇🐾

🐾 One Week Down! Neonatal Life with Lilly & Her Five 🍼

We have officially survived week one! 🎉

These five little Miniature Schnauzers are officially seven days old, and we couldn’t be prouder of Lilly.

Right now, they are in the "neonatal period." Their entire world is focused on just three things: survival, warmth, and growth. 📈❤️

Even though they look like they are just sleeping and eating, their little bodies have been working incredibly hard all week long. Here is what has been happening behind the scenes in the whelping box:

🔥 Thermal Regulation: Puppies cannot regulate their own body temperature yet. They rely 100% on their special whelping heating pad, their siblings, and Lilly’s warm snuggles to stay safe.

🧼 Elimination: Neonatal puppies cannot go to the bathroom on their own! Lilly has to stimulate them constantly to keep them clean and healthy. She is a full-time, round-the-clock mama.

💪 Reflexes: Their eyes and ears are still sealed shut. They navigate the world entirely by touch and smell, using natural reflexes to crawl toward Lilly’s warmth and nurse.

👋 Early Handling: We are gently holding and touching each puppy every day. This early handling helps stimulate their neurological systems, making them braver, smarter, and healthier dogs as they grow!

Lilly is doing an absolutely incredible job keeping her crew safe, warm, and fed.

Watch to see some of the sweetest week-one snuggles!

✨ One week down, onto week two!

Hit that follow button and join us as we head into next week, where we will start looking out for those first tiny blinks! 👀

The Lunch Rush is Real!

Lilly has officially opened up her 24/7 dairy bar! 🍼🐾

The current Miniature Schnauzer headcount is 5, and they have absolutely zero table manners. Lilly just rolled onto her back in the whelping box, clocked out, and let the tiny crew take over.

Watch until the end to see the cutest (and hungriest) little black and silver fluffballs! 👇

👅☀️ Tongue Out Tuesday with June! ☀️

June is showing off her best summer smile and reminding everyone to stay safe in the heat! 🐾❤️

As temperatures rise, don’t forget these important summer safety tips:
💧 Keep fresh water available
🌳 Provide plenty of shade
🐾 Check pavement before walks
🚗 Never leave pets in a parked vehicle

A happy tongue-out pup is adorable—but excessive panting can be a sign your dog is getting too hot. Always keep an eye on your furry friends during these warm summer days!

Now it’s your turn! 📸

Meet Bo and Jet: The Stinky Schnauzer Duo 🐸🛁

Look at those innocent faces! Don't let those big eyes fool you. Bo and Jet are currently in the doghouse.

I just bathed them, Why? Because they found the absolute stinkiest, oldest dead frog in the backyard and decided it was the perfect new cologne. They took turns rolling all over it!

Before I lost my mind, I realized this is a classic dog behavior. Here is a quick breakdown of why our furry friends love rolling in nasty stuff, and how you can save your own sanity when it happens to you!

🧠 Why Do They Do It?

Scent Masking: Ancient instinct drives dogs to hide their scent from prey.

Scent Advertising: They want to bring the "news" of a discovery back to the pack.

Pure Joy: Sometimes, strong smells just trigger a happy, euphoric brain response.

🧼 Quick Tips to Get Them Clean

Pre-treat with Baking Soda: Sprinkle it directly onto the smelly coat before the bath to absorb odor.

Use Dawn Dish Soap (Sparingly): It breaks up grease and dead animal oils better than standard dog shampoo. Keep it away from their eyes!

Try an Odor Neutralizer: Look for shampoos containing enzymes, apple cider vinegar, or rosemary.

Day 3: They are finally here! 🐾 The "blind and deaf" stage is officially underway for these sweet babies.

Welcome to Week One! 🌱

Right now, the puppies have a very simple daily schedule. They sleep about 90% of the day and spend the rest of their time nursing. Since their eyes and ears are tightly closed, they navigate their entire world using only their sense of smell and heat-seeking instincts to find Lilly.❤️

Lilly is being an amazing mama, keeping them safe, warm, and well-fed. They are growing incredibly fast and are on track to double their birth weight by the end of this week! 💪

🎉 LET'S PLAY A GAME! 🎉

Can you guess the total birth weight of the entire litter combined?

👇💡 HINT: There are 5 puppies in total!

Drop your guesses in the comments below! I will reveal the exact number and announce who got the closest in a few days! ⚖️🐾

Is Honey "birdwatching" or is it history in action? 🦅🌹

If you’ve ever watched a Schnauzer lock their eyes, nose, and ears onto a bush, you are watching centuries of genetic engineering at work! Honey might look like she's just being curious, but her senses are actually operating like a high-tech tracking system. Here is what is really happening when Honey investigates the brush:

👃 Stereo Sniffing: A Schnauzer's sense of smell is up to 100,000 times more sensitive than ours. Honey can smell with each nostril independently, allowing her to instantly tell if a target moved left or right.

👂 Radar Ears: Honey can hear high-frequency squeaks and rustles up to 45,000 Hz (far beyond human limits). She can rotate each ear independently to triangulate the exact location of hidden prey.

👁️ Motion-Activated Vision: Dogs don't see stationary objects with great detail, but Honey's eyes are hardwired to detect the slightest wing flutter or leaf twitch instantly.

🛡️ The Iconic Brow: Those beautiful, bushy eyebrows aren't just for looks! Historically, they acted as physical shields to protect a ratter's eyes from thorns, twigs, and brambles—keeping Honey's eyes safe around this rosebush!Whether they are tracking a backyard bird or looking for a lost toy, a Schnauzer's sensory toolkit is truly amazing.👇

Let’s chat in the comments:

Does your dog hunt more with their eyes, ears, or nose? What's their favorite thing to "spy" on in your yard?
