Our Jake is having some kind of skin issue hence the bath and a good spray with meds. I have to say he was a total gentleman throughout.

The duckling crew got their first swim tonight. All the tape is off and their little legs are almost all looking normal. Swimming is great physical therapy for ducklings. They also got a snack of frozen peas which are full of vitamins important for their healthy growth.

Behold my bucket o' ducklings.

We recently hatched some Welsh Harlequin ducklings, and a bunch of them were born with splayed legs. Both legs turned dramatically out to the sides so they could not walk. Quick bracing with medical take usually fixes them in a day or two. One little duckling had a leg that was pretty baby turned in. He got some cardboard along with the tape to hold the leg in place.

Tomorrow we'll probably get them in the tub for some swimming physical therapy.

We picked up some teenaged chickens a couple days ago to add to our layers. The jury is still out on their breed. The extra toes are really throwing me off, but they all have them. Guess we'll have to see what they look like as adults.

I am loving this new electronet fencing. Look at this buffet we were able to set up for the animals! The neighbor was more than happy to have our stock clear some of his land, and we get free food for the beasts. Win-win.

The ducklings and chicks are finally old enough to move out of the brooder and into the hoop house. I'm sure they are very happy to be able to stretch their legs though this new, big world is a little big scary.
