Happy National Pollinator Week! β€‹β€‹πŸ¦‹

Butterflies are essential partners in keeping our ecosystems thriving. As they move from flower to flower sipping nectar, they transfer pollen that helps plants reproduce and supports the food web that wildlife depend on.

Come visit our Butterfly House to see these pollinators in action!

Today is Veterinary Appreciation Day, and we're recognizing Dr. Taylor and Dr. Hannah for their work caring for the animals here at the GSC.

The work of a zoo veterinarian isn't always visible to guests, but it's an important part of animal care. From routine exams to specialized procedures, our veterinary team helps ensure our animal residents receive the care they need throughout every stage of life.

We're grateful to have Dr. Taylor and Dr. Hannah on our team. Thank you for all you do πŸ’™πŸΎ

This photo shows steel ceiling trusses being delivered during the construction of the Natural Science Center of Greensboro's $3 million expansion project in the late 1980s.

When the addition opened in 1990, it included the Pendulum and its lobby, the Great Hall exhibit space, Health Quest, Adventure Theaters, the Dino Gallery, and the lower level.

At the 1987 groundbreaking ceremony, the shovel used to break ground was the same one that had been used 30 years earlier for the Junior Museum of Greensboro's groundbreaking in 1957.
