Everyone always ask, "What's your favorite season?" Typically my answer is, "Deer season?"
But the truth is NO SNAKE SEASON is my favorite.
Tara and Dah both were bitten by a snake late yesterday. Tara is doing much better this morning. Swelling is coming down.
Dah on the ither hand is doing some better but is still very swollen and her left front leg is very painful for her to walk.

The only good snake is a dead snake.

Keep a watchful eye for snakes. This is the third one so far and we're still in May.

Baby Butte definitely keeps me on my toes and teetering on the edge of insanity.

He had discovered a new love of chasing a laser. Which is all fun and games until someone gets hurt.

I truly thought we had just played a little to hard on Saturday and he tweaked a muscle. Since he was showing signs of leg cramps. So we took it a little easier.
Well my Monday night he was lethargic, crying, yelping, not wanting to stand or even move. All of us sleeping in the living room floor on a palate. Time to see the Vet.

After xrays, labs, lots of discussions and a physical exam. Bubba has a strained/ strained back. Also another sinus infection, no surprise, since he is my special cleft palate baby.

Pain meds, muscle relaxers and antibiotics. Ordered rest and controlled excitement for at least 2 weeks.

Also discovered he has an odd shaped vertebrae. Has nothing to do with the pain he is experiencing. But it is something we have to keep and eye on.

When Dr Kleish looked at me and said, "You have an extra special baby." All I could say was, "Yes, he is. That's my baby."

Baby Butte, aka Bubba, had another checkup today, 4.8.26.
He weighed in at 53.4 lbs. Which is absolutely great. He gained just over 12 lbs since his last checkup.

He has another sinus infection and an ear infection. Meds are being given for both.

His palate is still open in the front. Dr Coble is looking into alternative procedures to correct and hold his palate closed.

But for now, Bubba, is holding his own. Growing like crazy and eating like a king. He is definitely my little protector and surely my shadow.
