‼️HEAT ADVISORY‼️

This week we are expected to hit extreme temperatures. Please make sure that you have your pets in an adequate area to stay as cool as possible.

Make sure your pet, if it has to stay outside, has SHADE. A doghouse in the sun is not shade or a place for them to cool off, it actually acts as an oven if in direct sunlight. The temperature in a doghouse in the sun, is higher than the temperature outside.

Make sure your pet has access to clean, fresh water. Keep it in the shade so it does not get hot. Water is going to be a dog or cats' best friend in temperatures like this. They need to have access to this at ALL TIMES.

Lastly, know the signs for heat exhaustion/stroke, there is a picture below with listed signs and symptoms. Some breeds and sizes can be more susceptible to having heat exhaustion or stroke than others.

Keep yourself and your pets safe during this heat wave!

Good morning!

Within 24 hours of our office being notified, this dog was safely and humanely trapped. We want to extend our deepest thank you to the ones who took the time to call this dog in and made us aware of the situation. Our office takes pride in taking care of any case, no matter the level of difficulty, with efficiency and in a timely manner.

Our goal is to always put the safety of our team and the animals at the forefront of any call that we may receive. Sometimes this may mean we do not get them right away, but we do not give up until we do. This shy cutie is now safe and sound in our facility and will be out of the elements.

If you or anyone you know recognizes this animal, please call our office at 706-454-7039, or come by to speak with us. They led us in quite the game of cat and mouse!

Good morning!

We have had several calls in reference to a Collie Mix on Veazey Connector between Walker Church Rd and Liberty Connector. We are aware and working diligently first thing this morning to attempt to catch the dog.

If you see this dog, please do NOT stop, do NOT feed the dog, and do NOT attempt to catch the dog. This dog is skittish; we want to have the best opportunity to catch it. Stopping can not only be dangerous for you, but for the dog as well, and also may cause the dog to change the general area it has been, making it harder for our office to help.

Thank you!

‼️UPDATE: RETURNED TO OWNER‼️

‼️FOUND DOG‼️

This doggo was found running at large near Lake Oconee Pkwy/Richland Connector. This furry friend is as sweet as can be, and we know they have to belong to someone! They don't want to spend time in the slammer; it's not the place to be on a pretty day like today.

If you or someone you know may own this dog, please reach out to our office at 706-454-7039. As always, please ensure you have the means to show proof of ownership, so we can make sure this long-haired pooch is going home with their rightful owners!

‼️FLEAS, TICKS, HEARTWORMS‼️

It's that time of year again! Fleas, ticks, and mosquitos are coming back out, and it's important you know the ways to prevent and protect your animals from them. All 3 of these can pose dangers to your pets. Fleas can cause numerous issues, irritated/itchy skin, anemia, infections, and hair loss to name a few. Ticks can spread numerous diseases not only to your pets, but also to you, please make sure after your pet is outside you are checking them, as well as yourself. Mosquitos will be making their pesky presence known soon, and they are the spreader of heartworms. This can be a fatal disease for your pet.

There are many ways this day in time through modern veterinary medicine to prevent these little boogers from making your pets life harder, as well as yours. Now is the time to speak with your vet about the best prevention method for the pets of your household! Get ahead of the game and use prevention methods available to you!

‼️RABIES ALERT‼️

A raccoon that was found on Wesley Chapel Rd in Greene County has tested positive for rabies. This is the first confirmed case of rabies this year in Greene County. The raccoon was deceased upon our office's arrival and was then sent off for testing.

We would like to take this time to encourage ALL pet owners to have their pets vaccinated against rabies, which has to be done at your vet's office by a licensed veterinarian. As we do live in a rural area, wildlife is abundant, and it is imperative to make sure that you are taking all steps available to you in protecting your animals.

If you have any questions, please do not hesitant to call our office at (706) 454-7039.

Good morning!

If you own livestock in Greene County, please be sure to check your fences! We have had some hard winds lately that could have caused trees to fall resulting in damage, gates opening, etc., and have had several calls of livestock out and running at large this morning.

Everything that was called in has been secured at this time, and we appreciate the owners having quick responses to get them put away.

Thank you!
