Merry Christmas to all! Hope everyone has a blessed day with all your loved ones. While the holidays can be chaotic. I hope you cherish the memories made with your friends and family on this holiday that we celebrate the birth of our lord and savior. I forgot to post my annual Christmas lights in the shoeing trailer pic earlier this year so here it is!

Happy thanksgiving everyone!

How much weight can a horse carry?

In my experience, a horse can carry an infinite amount.

They can carry the weight of broken hearts, broken homes, and broken bodies. Countless tears sometimes comb their tangled manes. Moments when parents and friends cannot be there to help and hold a person, horses embrace and empower. They carry physical, mental, and emotional handicaps. They carry hopes and dreams; and they will carry the stress from your day when you can’t carry it anymore.

They carry graduations, they carry new careers, they carry moves away from everything familiar, they carry marriages, they carry divorces, they carry funerals, they carry babies before they are born, and sometimes they carry the mothers who cannot carry their own baby. They carry mistakes, they carry joy, they carry the good and they carry the bad. They carry drugs and addictions, but they also carry the celebrations.

They will carry you to success when all you have felt is failure. They will carry you, never knowing the weight of your burdens and triumphs.

If you let them, they will carry you through life, and life is hard, life is heavy. But a horse will make you feel weightless under it all.

Excitement is in the air!

An iconic venue, the Château de Versailles will host the Olympic and Paralympic Games. Originally a simple hunting lodge, the Château de Versailles welcomed the court of Louis XIV in 1682, becoming the epicenter of French royalty. It the first French site to be listed as a UNESCO World Heritage in 1979.

Temporary installations will allow the Paris 2024 events to be held in this exceptional setting. An arena with several stands will be installed at the Étoile Royale, an esplanade west of the Grand Canal. The eventing cross-country test will take place around the Grand Canal itself. Two bridges flying across the water have been built for this purpose.

Behind every equine athlete is a dedicated team of veterinarians, ensuring they are prepared and in peak condition. On site, a record number of vets (twice as many vets as doctors) will ensure the safety of our horses.

A full-fledged clinic, equipped with all the necessary technology has been built purportedly, including a laboratory and pharmacy.

Vets have undergone special training for the event, including joint drills with emergency teams to prepare for all kinds of incidents, including the extremely unlikely fall of a horse in the canal!

Strict biosecurity rules will be enforced prior to allowing the horses on site. Once cleared, horses will be housed in tents equipped with a natural air cooling system. They will be able to exercise and graze at leisure in the park.

As the area is protected, only natural products will be allowed to keep insects at bay and all waste will be collected during the event.

This guy here is one of the more interesting cases we manage. We’ve been doing this fella for a long time now. Sadly I wasn’t diligent about taking pictures at the beginning. This guy foundered in just his right front foot. The vet thinks he has suffered a possible blood clot in this limb. Leading to the reason he only foundered In the one front foot instead of both, how it usually occurs. Sadly over time the lack of healthy blood flow to the foot lead to a rapid decay of horn quality for the hoof wall. His hoof wall would just crumble around the nails. We tried toe clips, quarter clips, and even shoes with toe clips and quarter clips. Nothing was helping his hoof wall not fall apart around the nails. Finally with no other options left we decided to cast his foot about a year back. This helps add stability back into a weakened capsule, while also helping hold his hoof together around the nails. I’m happy to say in this last year this guy has only lost one shoe since!
