Rainbow Harvest grows a wide range of unique and specialty vegetables on both their 9 acre farm on Adams Rd., and their (1/3 acre) urban farm near downtown Greenfield. We currently cultivate almost 2 acres of vegetables and also sell a wide variety of vegetable, fruit, herb, and flower plants for home gardeners and other small farmers. Rainbow Harvest goes well beyond the requirements of organic c
ertification, utilizing holistic and ecological growing practices that dramatically reduce the environmental impact of typical farming operations. Conservation tillage is currently practiced on the vegetable field, and many beds are being converted to a no-till system, which keeps much of the farm in permanent living ground cover or mulch. No pesticides are used on the farm, very little fossil fuels are consumed on farm (less than 25 gallons/year!), and wildlife habitat is preserved through a conservation restriction held by the Franklin Land Trust.
