We are a co-op owned by more than 1,000 local farmers who raise and produce crops, livestock, nursery stock, dairy products, maple syrup, forest products and more. Member farms are located in Franklin, Hampshire, and Berkshire counties in Massachusetts plus Windham County, Vermont and Cheshire County, New Hampshire. In 2023 our Board of Directors launched a new Agricultural Scholarship program
with a number of priorities in mind: 1) Keep the application process simple and straightforward
for applicants, 2) Ensure the application eligibility criteria is inclusive of those who may be
pursuing a “non-traditional” pathway in pursuit of a career in agriculture, 3) avoid traditional
decision making biases such as one’s grade point average, when considering applicant awards.

When to Plant Sweet Potatoes

Transplant sweet potato slips outdoors, 3 to 4 weeks after your last spring frost or once the soil has warmed to at least 65°F (18°C). Nighttime temperatures should be at least 55°F (13°C). The trick is to plant them early enough to have time to mature fully, but not so early that they get killed by a late spring frost.
Young sweet potatoes are very tender, so they must be protected from late frosts or cool nights (lower than 55°F/13°C) like we’re experiencing right now!
