Curious minds want to know… yes my surgery went well… I go back for a post op appointment on August 5th… right now I have not been released to start grooming dogs. I have been approved to lift up to (sparingly) 15 lbs…please be patient…i am not going to start back at full throttle. I will take 2-4 dogs a day but not 7-8 dogs like normal. Thank you for being understanding.

Groomers play with puppies all day!
Not quite.

It’s true that we get to spend time with your beloved dog. We receive kisses, snuggles, comfort, and plenty of laughs. The joyful moments and happy tail wags are definitely there. Grooming is absolutely an act of love.

However, there’s another side to the job that often gets overlooked. Here are some of the less glamorous realities that are part of a groomer’s daily work:
1. Risk of dog bites or attacks
2. A**l gland expressions
3. Severe matting (pelts so bad they look like something from an animal rescue show)
4. Lifting and holding 50-, 60-, or even 100-pound dogs for extended periods
5. Carpal tunnel syndrome
6. Severe back pain
7. Fear of injuring an uncooperative dog
8. Dealing with p*e, p**p, and ear wax
9. Dog hair everywhere — all the time, including in your eyes
10. Painful hair splinters

Groomers truly love your dogs. A little kindness and understanding go a long way in supporting the people who care for them.
