We proudly dedicate this page to the memory of a cherished founding member, Jacque Avant (1943–2024). We do not work for and are not affiliated with Jones County Animal Control. We are dedicated volunteers and concerned community members who want to make a difference in the lives of every animal who walks through the doors of Jones County Animal Control.

Cyclops has been in the shelter for 4 months now and is the longest resident. This means she is at great risk of euthanasia at any time! . She is fully vetted and spayed. She is good with other dogs and is looking for a rescue or adopter to give her a second chance at life. Please help us save Cyclops before it’s too late!

⭐️⭐️UPDATE!!! Thanks to Stephanie Galyean, Gus is now sponsored! This means that Gus’s adoption fee has been paid (his neuter, all vaccines, worming, flea/tick and microchip is all covered).

PLEASE someone give Gus the home he deserves! 🏡🏡

💙Gus is one of the longest residents at the shelter, which makes this poor guy more vulnerable. His sister has already been adopted and he is still waiting for his new home too!
🏡Can anyone please step up and offer to sponsor Gus’s adoption? Or better yet, give him a loving home?

Taz, Marley, and another sweet unnamed dog were euthanized for space.

We can blame the shelter, we can blame rescues, and we can look the other way—but the heartbreaking truth is that this is a COMMUNITY problem. Shelters and rescues cannot save them all when animals continue to pour through their doors faster than they can get them out.

Please spay and neuter your pets. Stop irresponsible breeding. Foster if you can. Adopt instead of shop. Share the dogs sitting in shelters. A simple share may be what puts the right dog in front of the right person.

These babies deserved to leave that shelter on a leash with a family—not lose their lives inside it.

We failed them. We have to do better for the ones still waiting. 🐾💔

💔 They didn’t choose the shelter. They didn’t choose to be abandoned. And they certainly didn’t choose their fate. This is NOT the fault of the shelter staff.

When our shelter is full, dogs still need somewhere to go. Sadly, when every kennel is occupied, some dogs may be euthanized simply because there is no space. 😭

Please don’t let a shelter dog become a number. ADOPT. FOSTER. RESCUE. SHARE.

Your choice to open your home could be the reason a dog gets to live. 🐾❤️ Please help us save them.
