NEDA Spring Dressage Show was a weekend full of exposure and growth!

Grace Baron and Frisco continued to build their partnership, earning a 67% in First Level Test 3 and securing their first Regional Championship qualifying score.

Lauren Barnes and Bryce HHF also had a successful weekend, earning a 65% in Training Level Test 3 and collecting their first Regional Championship qualifying score.

Congratulations to both horse-and-rider combinations on a productive weekend and a strong step toward their 2026 goals.

Proud of these two!

It was raining, it was pouring, but I don't think anyone was snoring!
While the afternoon didn't go to plan, it did give me the opportunity to work on proof galleries! Friday and Saturday's are loaded. Looks like a much calmer day tomorrow šŸ˜

Congratulations to Grace Baron and Lauren Barnes on such a successful outing at SMDA!

Grace rode Dana’s gelding, Frisco, and came home with two blues! Grace has been working incredibly hard over the last few months, and it certainly showed today with two fantastic tests. I am so proud of the progress this pair continues to make!

Lauren gave her gelding, Bryce HHF, a wonderful experience competing off property. Despite having very limited exposure, Bryce handled everything like a pro and took the entire day in stride. A very exciting step forward for this young horse!

So proud of both riders and horses today! šŸ™ŒšŸ»

It’s hard to believe how much life has changed in eight months.

Since September 18th, it feels like I’ve experienced every emotion possible. The fire. Losing Freddy in October. Losing Bentley in December. Starting over at Broad Park. So many changes, all at once.

For a while, it felt like my heart just kept taking hit after hit.

And I think the hardest part was how quiet my passion became.

When I was a kid, I had a riding lesson every Saturday. The second the lesson ended, I’d already start counting down the days until the next one. Horses were the thing that made me the happiest version of myself. They were excitement, comfort, purpose — everything.

After everything that happened, I still rode. I still taught. I still loved the horses in front of me every day. But the light felt dim for a while.

Somewhere along the way though, it slowly started coming back.

Not because the hurt disappeared, and not because I stopped loving the people, horses, and memories that were such a huge part of my life before all of this. I always will.

But through all the loss and change, I’ve also been reminded how lucky I am to have had such incredible people and horses in my life to begin with — both the ones who have been part of my story for years, and the new ones finding their way into it now.

Nothing replaces the old memories. Nothing ever could. But I’ve learned that your heart somehow keeps expanding, making room for new connections, new experiences, and new joy while still holding onto all the love that came before it.

I think what I feel most now is appreciation.

For every horse.
Every person.
Every lesson.
Every chapter.

Even the ones I didn’t know I’d survive when they first began.

With one of our horses heading to her new home down South, a rare boarding opportunity is becoming available at Broad Park Equestrian Center.

We offer a professional, well-managed, horse-centered environment for owners who value exceptional daily care, clear communication, and a calm, positive barn atmosphere.

This opening is best suited for a horse and owner who are looking for consistency, individualized attention, and a facility where the horse’s well-being always comes first.

A boarding application is required before scheduling a tour. Finding the right fit for the horse, owner, and barn is our top priority.

This career brings some pretty special horses and people into our lives, which makes saying goodbye that much harder.

Such strong bonds are built with so much trust placed in us by both horse and owner, and that is something I will never take for granted.

Today, Terry heads to South Carolina, and Moxie will soon follow. While I am so excited for this next chapter for them, I am already sad thinking about the day Moxie leaves Broad Park.

When Moxie first came to me, she was a mare who needed to be heard, understood, and supported in the right way. With a thoughtful plan and good vets in our corner - shoutout to Dr. Flaherty and Dr. Cormier - we were able to advocate for what Moxie needed, and Terry listened, trusted the process, and did right by her every step of the way. Moxie has become so much happier and more comfortable in her work.

After a long day yesterday, watching Terry get back in the tack amid all the chaos of preparing for her move made every bit of it worth it. Moxie settled so beautifully and effortlessly cantered around, showing exactly how far she has come.

Thank you, Terry, for trusting me with your special mare and for always doing right by her. I will miss you both, but South Carolina is lucky to get you.

Broad Park will certainly miss the Queen of the Stable, Moxie. She has earned that crown and title - large, ā€œin chargeā€, and never shy about letting us know exactly how she feels.

But! ….Not to worry - with Leslie returning from Florida soon, the royal court will remain fully staffed. ā˜ ļøšŸ˜˜

Starting young horses again has been a quiet but meaningful shift for me this past year.

For a long time, I stepped away from starting horses under saddle. I even chose to send one out to be backed instead of doing it myself — something I never would have considered years ago. At the time, it felt like the right decision, and in hindsight, it was part of a bigger evolution in how I approach training.

This year, I’ve found myself returning to starting young horses — but with a completely different mindset than I had when I was younger.

The biggest change? There’s no rush anymore - nothing to prove. Staying on explosive horses doesn’t actually mean you’re good.

I’m more focused on understanding the individual horse in front of me — how they think, how they process pressure, and what they need to feel confident. The process has become quieter, more intentional, and much more horse-centered.

And the result has been pretty incredible: no chaos, no scary moments — just horses that are relaxed, willing, and ready to learn.

It’s been a reminder that experience doesn’t just make you better — it changes how you see the whole process.

I’m really enjoying this chapter, and I’m excited to continue developing young horses in a way that sets them up for long-term success.

Pictured here is Sam’s young TB filly, Artie, having her first ride today!

Thank you Sam, for the opportunity to play a small role in Artie’s life.

I met Bryce as a 2 year old in the field at Hawk Hollow Farm and knew he’d be special. As a coming 6 year old I saw him advertised at a special rate. Roberta purchased him, I started him, and Lauren was later given the opportunity to purchase him.

Now, at 7, he continues to show me just how right I was.

Lauren has done a fantastic job continuing his development and I can’t wait to see them compete this year.
