Downest Dog Rescue is a non-profit, 501(c)3 based in the Portland, Maine area. We are dedicated to the rescue and rehabilitation of medium and large dogs including: Golden Retrievers, Labrador Retrievers, Boxers, Shepherds, Collies, Pit-bulls and mixed breed puppies, from high kill shelters in South Carolina and Georgia. These dogs are placed in foster care in Maine until adopted. All of our dogs

We never give up hope that Jack will find the perfect home someday. It’s been almost 1 year since he came to us from Saving Webster Dog’s kennels. He has come out of his shell, from the most frightened dog I’ve ever seen, to a living member of the family. He does well with dogs, kids and cats. With a few footnotes and exceptions. He loves people. Loves to play and go for hikes on our land. Interested adopters may apply via text 207-653-1990. 3 yrs, 65 lbs, adoption fee negotiable.
