All animals are spayed/neutered before leaving the shelter, and will have appropriate vaccinations and a microchip. Animal Control is a division of the Grass Valley Police Department

LOST or FOUND a PET:
- Contact BOTH animal shelters in our county (City: 530-477-4630 & County: 530-471-5041) and file a “Found or Lost Pet Report" If you live close to another county call that Animal Control agency as well.
- Check the house, closets, basement, garage, sheds, open vehicles, etc.
- Check with your neighbors
- Contact the KNCO radio station and ask that your pet be put on “pet patrol” http://knco.com/submit-to-knco/pet-patrol/
- Put an ad in the lost/found section of the local newspapers http://www.theunion.com
- Make flyers with : A good photo, description of animal, contact Info, where lost
- Post the photo and contact information on the Lost and Found Animals of Nevada County page, Nevada County Peeps page, Nevada County Lost Pets page, 530 Cody Alert page
- Post flyers with permission on local bulletin boards, pet stores, veterinary clinics
- Go to the animal shelter at least every couple of days and actively look for your pet in person.
- Take a found animal to either shelter or any veterinary hospital to be scanned for a microchip.
- If you’ve found an animal and are interested in adopting it should it not be claimed, let the shelter know. All animals are held the required amount of time before being placed for adoption.
