Good company, crisp autumn air, and plenty of four-legged friends.

Our friends from Queenstown Landing came out to visit the herd at Talisman today, and it’s safe to say both the horses, staff, and our guests loved every minute of it. There is nothing quite like a peaceful day on the farm to spark great stories, warm smiles, and pure comfort.

Move over, pumpkin spiced latte, the real fall icon has arrived.

Hazel heard there would be treats involved, so she agreed to step into her official role as the farm’s Great Pumpkin. She would like everyone to know she takes this duty very seriously, especially the part where pumpkin scraps are delivered directly to her feet.

Happy Halloween from Hazel, the therapy herd, and all of us at Talisman Therapeutic Riding! May your day be filled with lots of treats, zero tricks, and just enough pumpkin carving to share the guts with the pasture crew.

Put a paw up for our feline friends today. It's

Sharing a few pics of some of our furry friends that have called the barn home.

DYK that rats and mice have an acute sensitivity to cat scent; the pheromones and proteins found in cat saliva, fur, and urine trigger a fear response in rodent brains that naturally disrupts their breeding cycles and encourages them to nest elsewhere.

A single barn cat lounging lazily on a hay bale is often doing 80% of their pest control job without lifting a paw. So the next time you see one of the barn cats just hanging around, don't judge.

Through our Heroes on Horses program, Talisman Therapeutic Riding provides military veterans and first responders a restorative space to heal, build strength, and decompress alongside our therapy herd.

From one-day retreats to weekly adaptive riding sessions, our horses offer unconditional acceptance and a powerful path toward physical recovery and mental wellness. The program also provides an opportunity to reconnect with fellow service members in a quiet, restorative setting away from daily pressures.

Whether in the saddle or working side-by-side on groundwork and grooming, our attentive herd gives back to the men and women who gave so much to protect our communities.

We gathered at the farm for an extraordinary milestone: our mortgage retirement! Surrounded by the horses, pastures, and people who make this mission possible, we marked this historic chapter with a ceremonial "burning of the mortgage" bonfire.

Watching those papers turn to ash represents far more than numbers off a ledger. Through sheer hard work, our generous donors, dedicated staff, board members, and tireless volunteers, we officially paid off our mortgage.

This achievement means that the life-changing services provided by Talisman are more secure than ever before. Every dollar that once went to the bank, will now stay right where it belongs, supporting our equine-assisted programs, caring for our herd, and ensuring our participants have a welcoming haven to heal, grow, and ride for generations to come.

To every single person who stepped up, donated, cleaned stalls, served on our board, or believed in this vision from day one: this victory belongs to you.

Uniform inspection passed with flying colors. 🇺🇸

When you form a bond with your four-legged partner, you start looking out for each other in every detail. One of our incredible Veteran participants Ted took camaraderie to the next level by handcrafting a matching boonie hat for his equine partner, Yuma.

At the farm the connection between a Veteran and their horse is built on mutual respect, quiet trust, and unmistakable teamwork. Seeing that dedication reflected in a custom piece of gear, fitted with care right around Yuma’s ears, captures the heart of what happens at the barn every day.

Equine-assisted programs provide a space for service members to reconnect, find steady ground, and build genuine partnerships. And on sunny arena days, having a battle buddy who shares your cover makes the ride even better.

This carnival-themed event brings together dozens of local organizations dedicated to supporting families and individuals with special needs across our community.
