🐴 The Importance of Horse Health at Talisman 🐴

At Talisman, the health and well-being of our horses come first. These amazing partners are at the heart of everything we do — from therapy sessions to education programs — and their care is central to our mission.

Our staff and volunteers receive regular training on equine health, wellness, and behavior to ensure every horse is happy, sound, and thriving. We also incorporate horse care and education into our participant programs, helping riders understand the responsibility, empathy, and teamwork that come with working alongside horses.

Healthy horses mean safe, meaningful, and successful experiences for everyone who comes to Talisman. 💛

Talisman Therapeutic Riding was proud to participate in the Celebration of the Horse event at Tuckahoe Equestrian Center as part of Maryland Horse Month.

Representing Talisman was Sadie B. with Summer Moon, a beautiful Chocolate Rocky Mountain Saddle Horse. Together, they showcased the grace, partnership, and connection that define the equestrian spirit we celebrate every day. 🐴✨

Thank you to Tuckahoe Equestrian Center, the Maryland Horse Industry Board, and all who made this wonderful event possible!

It was a beautiful day of creativity and community — and we’re deeply grateful that 100% of the class fees were donated to Talisman Therapeutic Riding.

Your generosity and artistry help support our mission and make a difference for our riders, horses, and programs. 💙🐴

School is out on 10/17 and 10/31 - send the the kids to Wonder in the Wild for a full day of outdoor nature play and exploration!

On 10/17 we'll become treasure hunters as we practice compass skills , search for treasure in the woods 🪙, and compete in an epic game of capture the flag 🏴‍☠️

On 10/31 the woods will come alive as we prepare for one of our favorite traditions - (tree) trunk or treat! We'll investigate who we share our outdoor classroom with 🕷, "adopt" and decorate trees 🌳, and hike to find treats 🍭. Appropriate costumes that allow for outdoor play are welcome!

Join us for S'mores & Stories Thursday from 6-7:30 at our NEW location at Talisman Therapeutic Riding! We'll start with time to explore and play in the outdoor classroom, while we enjoy delicious hot chocolate. Then, we'll move to the fire for story time and s'mores. This is a "pay what you wish event" with reservations required, so we can prepare enough goodies! Please bring a blanket to sit on and a flashlight.
