Valentines Day is quickly approaching, and with that we often see beautiful gifts that can pose a danger to our furry friends. Be careful to keep these and others out of pets' reach!

In an effort to keep your costs low we have been negotiating with the manufacturers of flea, tick and heartworm preventions to be able to provide the best products at the best price. As of March we will offer Nexgard, Heartgard and ProHeart for our canine friends and Revolution Plus for our fabulous felines. Other preventions will still be available through our online store if you would like to continue with a prevention such as Bravecto or Credelio.

Many of you received an email regarding "Save this Life" microchips. The company unexpectedly shut down with no notice. The email was sent out to all clients just to ensure that if your pet was chipped with one of their chips that your pet could still be identified and returned to you if lost.

If your pet was microchipped at our clinic, there is no need to do anything. We use HomeAgain microchips, which are not affected by the closure.

If your pet was microchipped elsewhere, or if you brought us a microchip to insert but aren't sure of the manufacturer, you may look up your microchip at https://www.aaha.org/for-veterinary-professionals/microchip-search/ or head to FreePetRegistry.com to register your existing microchip.

This is not a scam, and there is no need to provide any credit card information. We are truly sorry if the email caused any upset or worry.

After scanning lost pet, enter the number into the microchip registry tool to search for the manufacturer of the chip.

*****ADOPTED*********Lainey was found at the dump. She was scavenging in the trash piles when a kind person got her to safety. She weighed about 53lbs, and her tummy didn't feel very good from whatever she had been eating. After a nice recovery, we are so glad to see Lainey well on her way to her goal weight (her last weight was 73lbs, and she still has a few more to go).

We are estimating Lainey to be about 5 years old. Throughout her stay, Lainey consistently impresses us with her kind demeanor, nice manners, and affectionate personality. When meeting new dogs, Lainey is polite and tolerant. She knows when it's time to calm down and will gladly sit by our feet while we work. When meeting new people, she'll quickly come in for a leg lean or a good nuzzle. She is an A+ shelter guest!

I'm fixed, vaccinated, microchipped and up to date on parasite preventatives. It is $165 to bring me home!

If you are interested, please call the shelter at (541) 474-5458. You can view more adoptable pets at www.jocoshelter.com/adoptions . Walk-ins are welcome, however we highly recommend calling first to check on availability and location (some animals may be offsite or unavailable). Appointments are recommended to reduce wait times, especially for dogs. Thank you!
