NOW AVAILABLE

The Featherfin Catfish (Synodontis eupterus) is a striking bottom-dwelling species from Africa, known for its intricate patterns and "squeaking" sounds. It thrives in spacious tanks with hiding spots and clean water. While territorial at times, it is compatible with larger, peaceful tankmates. With a potential lifespan of up to 18 years, it is a rewarding species for experienced aquarists.

Rope Fish:
The ideal temperature range spans 75-82°F, with 78°F representing the sweet spot for activity and appetite.

Dense plantings of hardy species like Java fern, Anubias, and Cryptocoryne provide security while tolerating the low to moderate lighting rope fish prefer. These plants also help maintain water quality by absorbing nitrates and providing surfaces for beneficial bacteria colonization.Hiding spots prove absolutely essential for rope fish well-being. PVC pipes, carefully selected driftwood with smooth surfaces, and commercial cave decorations should be distributed throughout the tank.

Fresh and frozen foods form the foundation of a proper rope fish diet. Bloodworms, blackworms, and tubifex worms prove irresistible.

Ideal tank mates include medium to large peaceful species that occupy different water column levels. African species like Congo tetras, African butterfly fish, and larger synodontis catfish create biotope-appropriate communities. South American options include larger tetras like Buenos Aires or Colombian tetras, peaceful cichlids like angelfish and bottom dwellers like catfish. I've maintained particularly successful communities combining rope fish with pearl gouramis, whose peaceful nature and middle-to-upper water column preference complement rope fish perfectly.

The Silver Hatchetfish, as the name suggests, has a silver body color but it can have a very thin black strip on the sides. Some individuals can have a broken line creating a dot pattern and some might not have any black on their body.

In terms of size, adult Silver Hatchets grow to be around 2.2 inches in length when fully mature. While they may appear small at first glance, these little beauties can make quite an impact on your aquarium thanks to their stunning colors and patterns!
