Violet Stem Taro
This gem makes a bold statement in the garden with 6-foot-deep
purple petioles (stalks) leading to 3-foot-long giant green
leaves with a slight hazy purple cast. The 1-foot-tall yellow flowers
have a wonderful papaya-like fragrance. Although it sends out
wild-looking runners, it has been very slow to spread.

Zone 9-11 Lemon Bacopa will not survive in an outdoor pond during winter in
colder climates. Before the first frost hits, move the plants indoors and allow
them to grow in an aquarium or tub (ensure they get ample light). Or simply
allow them to die off and replant in Spring. Traditionally, the plant is used for its
medicinal benefits. Some of these effects have been proven by science. It’s
commonly used for toothaches, but it’s also used for other issues like
inflammation and gastrointestinal problems.
