A week and a half out of the wild, and she pretty much taught herself this. I'm not crying, you're crying πŸ₯ΊπŸ’•

The past week with Jynx has been beyond amazing. She has come so much further than I ever expected her to in such a short time.

She's 3 days into her new grain and hay pellets being added to her forage, and I can't wait to see how this already healthy and beautiful mare absolutely blossoms (and hopefully grows πŸ˜†)

I've spent 2-4 hours a day, every day, working her, grooming her, and just sitting with her enjoying her company. I had been in a mental funk for longer than I can remember, and this girl singlehandedly pulled me out of it and showed me my passion and work ethic again, and I'm eternally grateful.

A huge shout out to Harris Training Center for allowing me to have horses at their beautiful facility for so many years and to train in the amazing indoor round pen and arena. It has allowed me to not miss a day with this mare, even when the weather hasn't been so pretty or cooperative.

I have tomorrow planned as the 'big day' in mustang land that she moves from the indoor round pen to a stall, so I'm a nervous and excited momma. Being in the stall will allow her to experience rhe every day sights and sounds and get used to seeing people that aren't me daily.

Jynx' very first time with polo wraps and anything cinched on or on her back at all besides a folding chair πŸ˜† I don't plan on starting her under saddle until after the competition, but I thought it would be good for her brain (and my aging body πŸ˜…) to get her used to all the new things early on.

Not only did she not flinch, she took herself to the tie area for me to take it off and kept trying to uncinch it herself 🀣🀣🀣

Video 1 : Jynx looking precious over trot poles

Video 2 : she got scared when the dog outside barked (which is why we tie with a piece of twine when starting mustangs and colts), and then stood and waited for me to come get her. Just showing it isn't all butterflies and rainbows (but sure is close!) and why you should ALWAYS stay aware of what is happening around you because you never know when you're going to need to dodge a bullet.

Video 3 : she stood perfectly afterwards for me to trim all 4 legs, mane and tail like nothing had happened. She was immediately over being scared and didn't care about the dog outside after she knew it was there. She's got such an incredible brain.

Another day, another feeling of absolute amazement at this little wild mare. For her second tying lesson, I immediately haltered and tied her with no lunging or work to see how she would do "fresh" while I groomed her and trimmed her mane and leg hair on all four legs. As usual, she passed with flying colors.

Look at this adorable english pony πŸ₯Ί

Day 6 was for our first tying lesson. She gave to pressure immediately when she would back up against the rope, and only got annoyed enough to paw for a few seconds two times. Jynx blows my mind daily, and today was no exception.

Jynx had an extremely laid back day 5. She did a few minutes with raised trot poles and some backing up at liberty with vooce commands, but today was mainly focused on meeting her first 'stranger'. Jared wanted to come meet her (with a pile of grass, of course), and she immediately walked over to see who he was. She didn't have any anxiety or standoffishness towards him, and immediately started taking grass from him (one of the most food motivated horses I have ever met), as well as following him around and poking at him while he stood around. I'm amazed by this little mare daily.

*please feel free to share this for us*

With the rising costs of bringing a horse through training and fuel costs, I am looking for a few sponsors to help bring Jynx through the next 120 days to the competition.

Every little bit helps, and as for specifics we are looking for anyone that is interested in sponsoring hay, grain, health care and boarding costs.

For any businesses interested in sponsoring us, you will get attention on social media, in any interviews or in person meet and greets, as well as your logo on our shirts, horse trailer and any banners and informational posters that will be posted up at horse shows.

I have been considering writing up sponsorship 'tiers' if that is something that would interest anyone, with different 'incentives' at each level for both businesses and individuals. Individual tiers could include framed photos / horse hair jewelry of Jynx, custom rope and muletape halters, "meet the mustang" events, etc.

Possible monthly tiers (either as a "subscription" or month to month) could be as follows, and I am open to any suggestions.

Diamond - >$250
Platinum - $150 - $250
Gold - $100 - $150
Silver - $50- $100
Bronze -

Today marks 4 days that this sweet horse has gone from wild to domestic.

Jynx, formerly known as #6636, is a 3 year old bay mare from the Eagle herd management area in the plains of Nevada. She was one of only 6 horses rounded up on February 7, 2020 as a yearling.

For those that don't know, Jynx was randomly assigned to me for the NC Extreme Mustang Makeover TIP Challenge held at the Ponderosa in Lincolnton, NC on July 29-31st, 2022. This challenge has both a youth division and an adult division, and both will be fully in-hand with none of the horses being ridden.

Trainers have approximately 120 to gain their horses trust and build a bond, while teaching basic maneuvers as well as learning how to complete patterns, obstacles and more advanced movements. These horses have all started out fully wild and unhandled by humans besides being put in a chute for basic health needs, so we are all starting fully at square one with no advantages from one horse to the next besides their own natural demeanor and bravery.

Jynx is an extremely special horse, and has desired to build a friendship with me from the start. She is extremely well put together with an incredible mind and endless talent.

Today, on day 4, she took her first walk to graze and explore outside of the pen she has been in since unloading from my trailer, walked and trotted over a tarp, and was free jumped to see if she has any natural jumping ability. Prior to today, she has been fully brushed (including mane and tail), worn front sport boots, had her front hooves picked out, can be haltered with no issue, and has had a cone and folding chair put on her, along with a lot of other day to day encounters.
