Great info from our friend!!
Is your dog afraid of fireworks?
Have you recently adopted a dog whom you’re unsure of how they will do during fireworks?
Now is the time to prepare, do not wait until the week before, or worse, not prepare at all and have the heartbreak of a lost dog
Here are some tips to prepare-
Talk to your vet about a prescription that will make the whole experience a lot less stressful
Make sure you have a well-fitted, bright reflective collar with updated tags, preferably one with the plate on the collar so the tags can it fall off. You can find these on gundogsupply.com
Make sure your microchip is up to date
Do not allow your dog unsupervised in a yard or kennel without an escape proof top and dig proof bottom. I do not recommend leaving any dog with severe noise sensitivity outside even in an escape proof kennel because they can seriously injured themselves in a panic.
You can buy inexpensive rope at Home Depot and make a long line so your dog can have freedom to go to the bathroom without the worry of them panicking and jumping a fence or bolting
Invest in a sturdy plastic crate and train your dog to relax in it. You can put this crate in a bathroom or closet to dampen the noise. Wire crates can be very, very dangerous to a panicked dog.
My goal is for no one to lose their dogs this season so prepare and please share this post, it could save a pup life!
