**Happy update: We've located his owners and have exchanged contact information.

We were notified by a client that this handsome boy was found on Ridgewood Drive in Kamiah. The finder took the dog to Orofino and had him scanned, no chip. He's neutered and well-behaved, no tag either.

If he looks familiar, let us know and we can get you in contact with the finder!

Rattlesnakes Are Out — Protect Your Pets

Warm weather is here, and rattlesnakes are officially active in our area. This is your reminder to update your dog’s annual rattlesnake vaccine or start the series for new pets.

Rattlesnake Vaccine
Helps your dog’s body respond faster to venom
Can reduce swelling, pain, and tissue damage
May slow progression of symptoms to buy time for treatment
Requires an initial series followed by yearly boosters
Not a replacement for emergency care, but an added layer of protection

Antivenom — We Carry It
Used in emergencies after a bite
Works by neutralizing venom in the body
Most effective when given as early as possible
Can be life saving and reduce complications
Often paired with hospitalization and supportive care

Important
Even with vaccinated dogs please call the vet if bitten
Avoidance and awareness are always your best defense

Call us to schedule your pet’s vaccine or if you have questions about risk in our area

📣 Notice from Tolo Veterinary Clinic

We are currently unexpectedly short staffed and appreciate your patience during this time.

Response times may be slower than usual as we prioritize patients based on medical need. Emergent and urgent cases will be seen first, followed by other appointments in order of priority.

We are doing our best to care for every patient as quickly and safely as possible and truly appreciate your understanding.

As a reminder, all prescription refills and estimate requests require at least 72 hours’ notice.

Thank you for your continued support and patience—we are grateful for our amazing clients and community.

March Pet of the Month: Max! 🐾

Max the Rottweiler recently earned his Canine Good Citizen Award, and we couldn’t be prouder! He’s not only accomplished—he’s also such a sweet boy.

His favorite person at the clinic is Kenzie at the front desk (she has a soft spot for Rottweilers 💙).

Way to go, Max! 🎉

🐾 What’s safe for us isn’t always safe for our pets!

Many common foods in our kitchens can be dangerous for dogs and cats — even small amounts can cause serious illness. Chocolate, grapes, onions, xylitol (found in sugar-free gum), and many other everyday foods can quickly become an emergency for pets.

We put together this easy fridge list so your family and pet sitters can quickly see which foods to keep away from curious noses and wagging tails.

Saving a copy on your fridge can help prevent accidents before they happen. 🐶🐱

If you ever think your pet has eaten something toxic, call us right away:

Dogs rarely “bite out of nowhere.” 🐶

Most give subtle signals first and recognizing those early cues can help prevent stress from escalating into fear or defensive behavior.

Understanding body language isn’t just helpful for pet owners, it’s a critical part of client education, bite prevention, and safer handling in practice. 🩺

From lip licking and turning away to stiff posture and hard stares, small changes can tell you a lot about how a dog is feeling.

Save this for reference and share with clients, friends, or fellow team members. 🐾
