By tuning into the needs of our community, I've identified a significant demand for pet sitters in Goshen, Nappanee, and nearby areas. While I'll maintain my focus on supporting reactive dogs from the area, I've had to decline requests from other dogs. To rise to this challenge, I've chosen to grow the Fat Dog Squad, and I'm excited to introduce Amber! She will soon be helping with drop-ins, pet sitting and dog walking!

Hey there! I’m Amber, a 20-year-old dog lover, and this is my amazing pup, Benny! He just celebrated his 2nd birthday on the 25th, and he’s such a bundle of joy! Benny absolutely adores playing fetch, going for long walks, and cruising in the car. He’s a professional cuddle buddy, always ready to shower you with hugs and kisses! Plus, he’s has his AKC STAR Puppy and AKC Novice Trick Dog, We are now working on his AKC CGC.
Since I was a little kid, I've had a burning passion for working with animals. I have always dreamed of working in the veterinarian field. I also fell in love with Dog Training, Pet Sitting and Dog Walking. I'm on a mission to help you care for every furry friend I meet.
I’ve taken pet sitting classes and I am currently pursuing Dog Training courses. The excitement to learn and discover new things in the world of Pet Care has been just incredible! Let’s embark on this adventure together! 🐾💖

A puppy's first year of training should focus on socialization with people, places, and things, incorporating positive exposure to various stimuli, including sounds, smells, animals, wheeled objects, surfaces, and individuals of diverse ages to ensure a solid foundation for future success.

As a pet owner, embracing a proactive approach to preventing dog bites is not only responsible but also rewarding, and by following these guidelines, you can make a meaningful difference:
1. Share your dog's behavioral history with your pet sitter, vets, walkers, groomers, dog trainers and others pet care professionals providing them with invaluable insights to ensure a safe, enjoyable experience for all.
2. Demonstrate empathy by respecting dogs' boundaries, always seeking permission before interaction to prioritize their emotional well-being. Look into the yellow ribbons movement.
3. Maintain a safe grip on your dog's leash, remaining vigilant to potential risks and safeguarding the welfare of both your pet and those around them.
4. Reaching out to us for help finding the perfect trainer and veterinary care to provide the best care possible for s happy and healthy pet!
Reactivity come from a long list of issue. Including pain, anxiety, stress, genetics and so much more.
5. Learn pet body language and give them plenty of space.

At Fat Dog and Co, Pet 1st Aid is a paramount concern, ensuring our team undertakes a Pet CPR and 1st aid course, recertifies every 2 years, and carries a pet 1st aid kit at all times. Furthermore, we have stringent safety protocols in place for weather conditions, seat belts, extra water, blankets, leashes, and proper paperwork. We meticulously consider the duration pets spend outside in extreme temperatures and provide fresh water at every visit.

Summer's arrival means increased outdoor activities, travel, and exposure to frightening events like storms and fireworks for your dog. To ensure their safety, verify that identification tags are up-to-date, inspect collars, harnesses, leashes, and tie-outs for damage, and validate microchip information. Adding backup contact numbers for the microchip, at the veterinarian's office, and with pet care providers is also recommended. Confirm that vaccinations are current and keep a copy of the records with you. Organize a comprehensive file, including vaccination records, medical history, medication lists, and emergency contacts, and store it in the glove compartment, a binder in the car and house, and on your phone. Finally, verify that your dog's license is current and all information is up-to-date.
