🌟🌟 SPOTLIGHT SUNDAY 🌟🌟 We’re excited for you to meet Dankeith today!

Dankeith joins us in the Beer City Dog Biscuits kitchen on Wednesday mornings with his group from Kent ISD Lincoln School. He’s helped out in a few areas, from filling biscuit molds with dough to adding a personal touch by coloring and writing thank you notes that go into every order 🖌

At home in Grand Rapids, Dankeith lives with his grandma and family. In his free time, he loves chatting about his favorite topics—his friends, the weekend, and of course, jokes! He enjoys being out in the community with family and friends, going to social events, bowling, riding bikes, listening to YouTube, and joking around with the people he loves. When it comes to food, his top picks are pizza, bacon, and cereal!

Fun fact: Dankeith has a great sense of style. He loves fashion, matching outfits, and rocking cool hats 🧢

When we asked Dankeith what his favorite task is at BCDB, he said, “Coloring thank you cards because it’s fun.” We couldn’t agree more. Being creative is always fun! He also shared that he’s learned how to focus more, be independent with job tasks, and fill biscuit molds like a pro.

Dankeith, we’re so grateful to have you in the kitchen each week. The smile in your photo says it all. You bring joy to everyone around you and we appreciate your help so much! 🌟🌟

It’s always a good day in the kitchen when our Brew Bakers spot a bag with their picture on it. But the odds of Mel finding one with everyone at her table? Too good not to capture.

Our Brew Bakers take so much pride in what they do, and seeing their smiling faces on the bags they helped fill, brings such a sense of purpose. Those big grins say it all. What a perfect reminder of the heart that goes into every biscuit ❤️🐾

🌟🌟 SPOTLIGHT SUNDAY 🌟🌟 Meet Karalyn! She joins us every Wednesday morning with a group from Kent ISD Lincoln School and has mastered some important jobs, like filling our dog biscuit molds with dough and writing the thank you notes that go into every order ✉🖌

Karalyn lives in Grand Rapids with her parents and sister. In her free time, she enjoys community outings with her family and class, taking walks outside, and bowling. She also loves keeping things neat and organized. Her favorite music is Barney (though she enjoys most music), and her favorite food is Chinese, especially potstickers and egg rolls 😋

Fun Fact: Karalyn loves to share toys with people and also take them back. It’s her favorite way to initiate peer interaction.

We asked Karalyn which task she enjoys most at BCDB. She said she loves organizing the completed biscuit dough molds on the tray because she likes things neat and orderly 👏 We also asked what she's learned since coming to our kitchen. She said she's learned how to work together with a group and keep the molds perfectly arranged.

Dan and Alex are on a roll! They’ve been packing up our sample bags using a visual template designed by students from the Grand Valley State University Occupational Therapy Program. These interns worked side-by-side with our Brew Bakers, helping us adapt our kitchen processes to better support every individual who walks through our doors. Big thanks to them! Also to Dan and Alex for getting these share packs ready! Each one includes three biscuits, perfect for spreading the word (and the love) about our mission 🐾

🌟🌟 SPOTLIGHT SUNDAY 🌟🌟 Say hello to Spencer! Spencer joins us on Wednesday mornings with a group from Kent ISD Lincoln School. Around the Beer City Dog Biscuits kitchen, he’s taken on several jobs, from filling biscuit molds to weighing and bagging biscuits, and even writing the thank you notes that go into customer orders. Staff say he’s always keeping track of where people are, making sure to share a wave or a fist pump! 👊

Spencer lives in Lowell with his mom, dad, and sister. In his free time, he loves watching YouTube on his iPad, going for walks, and playing games like Uno, Pop the Pig, and Bingo with his friends at school. His favorite music? Jack Hartmann and good ol’ rock and roll. He loves finding new tunes on YouTube, too. When it comes to food, pizza is the winner! 🍕

Fun fact: Spencer has a LeapFrog pencil that he brings with him everywhere.

We asked Spencer what his favorite task is at BCDB. He said, “I like filling bags with biscuits because I think it's fun!” We also asked what he’s learned since joining the team. His answer: how to work hard, follow directions, and complete job tasks 👏

Spencer, we are so proud of how much you’ve grown and are so grateful to have you as part of our team 🌟🌟

We are so proud of Meaghan! 👏

After our Executive Director, Jennifer, spoke to the Rotary Club of Rockford Michigan about our mission, Meaghan joined in for a Q&A about her experience as a Brew Baker. She answered questions about her favorite job in the kitchen (filling molds with blueberry biscuit dough), how long she’s been volunteering with us (three years!), and more about what she loves most at Beer City Dog Biscuits.

Meaghan’s CLS worker, Sarah, joined us for the event too, and fun fact, her husband is a Rotarian!

We wrapped up by handing out sample packs and info cards so members could learn more and share what we do. Huge thanks to the Rockford Rotary for having us and to Meaghan for sharing her story with such heart.

🌟🌟 SPOTLIGHT SUNDAY 🌟🌟 We’re so happy to introduce you to our friend JD! JD comes to the Beer City Dog Biscuits kitchen on Wednesday mornings with Kent ISD Lincoln School. He has mastered the art of filling biscuit molds with dough and writing the thank you notes that go into customer orders! 🖌

JD lives in Ada with his parents. He has a twin brother and a younger brother. In his free time, he loves spending time in the community with his peers and family. He enjoys playing with his sensory toys, especially anything with a ribbon, and likes helping with “heavy lifting” jobs like carrying groceries or taking out the trash 💪 It feels good to feel needed and valued!

Some of JD’s favorite things include going out to eat, taking road trips or plane rides with his family, and staying active with walks, swimming, and bowling. You'll probably hear him listening to 80s music and he's a big fan of all kinds of potatoes, especially McDonald’s fries! 🍟 Fun fact: JD likes to hold out his hand for dog “kisses.” 🐶

When we asked JD what his favorite task is at BCDB, he said he enjoys helping bring materials to the table and putting them away at the end of his shift. He loves to help carry items and stay active. We also asked what skills he’s learned, and he told us, “Staying with a group and having independence over gathering materials for the table.”

We’re so proud of JD and are so thankful he chose to spend time with us each week 🌟🌟

Shoutout to the awesome middle school girls from Ada Bible Church who served with us this week as part of ServeGR!

With 360+ students serving across 40+ nonprofits in Grand Rapids, we felt so lucky to have this crew helping in our kitchen.

These girls brought such positive energy to our space, had fun connecting with our Brew Bakers, and helped us finish cleaning our molds with big smiles on their faces. We’re so grateful for their hearts to serve and the impact they made here. Way to go, ladies!

🌟🌟 SPOTLIGHT SUNDAY 🌟🌟 Say hello to Ruthie! She comes to the Beer City Dog Biscuits kitchen on Thursday mornings through the Kent ISD Empower U Program. She’s tried her hand at a variety of tasks around BCDB, including filling molds with dog biscuit dough, labeling sample bags, weighing and filling bags with just the right amount of biscuits, and writing thank you notes that go into every order.

In her free time, Ruthie enjoys cooking with her CLS worker, Molly, watching YouTube (especially The Floor is Lava), playing games, putting together puzzles, and drawing 🖌 She also loves listening to pop and Christian music, with Toby Mac being her favorite artist. As for food, Ruthie knows what she likes! Here's her favorite food lineup—bagels with cream cheese for breakfast, ham and cheese sandwiches for lunch, and chicken pot pie for dinner! 😋

Fun fact: Ruthie loves doing laundry! 🧺

When we asked Ruthie what she enjoys most at BCDB, she said, "I like writing the notes the best." She’s referring to the personal thank you notes our Brew Bakers create to include in every order. Ruthie added, "I'm good at writing notes, and I like to make people smile." 😁

We also asked her what skills she’s learned since coming to BCDB. Ruthie shared, "I have learned to fill the molds with biscuit dough using my hands carefully." That’s a crucial step in our biscuit-making process and we’re so glad she’s a part of it! Our team added that they have noticed Ruthie becoming more independent, gathering the supplies she needs and cleaning up her workspace when she's finished. Way to go, Ruthie! 👏 We’re proud to have you in the kitchen each week 🌟🌟
