“PITCH BLACK Grand Rapids is a pitch competition aimed toward uplifting Black-owned businesses operating in Kent County, Michigan. Created by the Michigan SBDC, it is part of our Uplift Michigan™ initiative, a strategic movement designed to ensure equitable access for all diverse entrepreneurs across Michigan.
Part game show – part competition, this fun and entertaining event will be conducted on an auditorium stage in front of a live audience where 7 selected finalists will compete for cash prizes totaling $10,000. Top prize $5,000! 2nd place prize $3,500. 3rd place prize $1,500. There will also be a business showcase prior to the main event.
PITCH BLACK Grand Rapids is generously sponsored by Comerica Bank, Huntington Bank, Choice One Bank, and Fifth Third Bank. Cash prices will be awarded by The Richard M and Helen DeVos Center for Entrepreneurship & Innovation at Grand Valley State University.
Admission to this event is free but we encourage you to register due to venue space limitations. We also welcome walk-in attendees.
