Woke up thinking about Miss Kitty this morning. I sure do miss her. She would love all the Itty-Bitties I have around here now. She always enjoyed playing with the littles as if she was everyone's Mama. I can imagine the fun she would have with Wonka too.

The boys are 3 wks old TODAY. This is the stage they begin to really thirst for knowledge & life skills. They are lifting & holding their heads up for extended time. Watermelon crawls are getting faster & becoming steps. By mid week they'll be walking.
Sooo this week tiny collars will be put on them in preparation for leash training. Patsy & her boys will be moved from a large crate to a pen where they will have room to walk, play, learn to use the litterbox for potty & have much more interaction. They will gain exposure to everyday sights & sounds.
As time permits, I'll post videos &/or go live so y'all can see snipits of the process & the things that go into raising quality pups. I think it will help you to understand the consistency & dedication involved to give these pups a good foundation before going to new homes.

A little information for educational purposes:
Australian Shepherd Breed Standards by Registries

SIZE

STANDARD: Height for both male and female is 18 inches up to 23 inches at the top of the withers.

MINIATURE: Height for both male and female is 14 inches up to 17.99 inches at the top of withers.

TOY: Height for both male and female is 10 inches up to 13.99 inches at the top of the withers.

NOTICE they are measured by HEIGHT not weight.

How much does the puppy weigh?
How much will that puppy weigh at maturity?

I cringe when asked those questions. Why? Because it's like asking a mother how much her new born baby will weigh at 18, 20 or 40 yrs of age.
Think about that. How the heck do you expect her to know the answers to that?
Stop & think of all of the factors that will play into that child's life that will determine weight at maturity of the child.
It's the same for a dog. Unless you're breeding, what difference does it make?
The tool we use in measuring an Aussie is called a Wicket (pictured).

Saw another side to Li'l Two-Step that I've never seen before. This will explain why he's wonking his ears & tongue out. He has an inner Muhammad Ali.
Every neighborhood has at least one neighbor who is insistent that the rules and laws don't apply to them or their pets. I have a huge neighbor on the next block over and we share an alleyway. This man is insistent on off-leash walking his Extra large dog who is a bulldog/pit mix in the alley & around the neighborhood. He allows and is insistent upon letting his dog try to make friends with my dogs through the fence. I have asked him more times than I can count to Please leash his dog and do not allow it to come near my fence and my request are ignored.
Yesterday I had let Two-Step out to potty & he immediately went to the far corner of the backyard and was barking & having a fit. This was alarming to me and I rush out to see what he's going on about. I got out there just in time to witness my Li'l 10" Two-Step open up his inner Muhammad Ali on the BullPit & his owner. That BullPit turned & ran back to his backyard refusing to go for a walk. I finally got Two-Step to come to me & praised him for his actions.
Once we came inside I laughed so hard. We'll see if the neighbor abides by the laws now. Next time I'll yell "Sick'em, Two-Step!"

This little guy is so dark that even in natural lighting it's difficult to get good pics that you can see facial features or his eyes in. He is going to be a true Gem in a tiny pkg. I'm pretty good at picking those out in my pups. What most see at this stage is a lump of coal but he's that Diamond in the rough.
Take the time to ZOOM IN on this Pic & look at his face & eyes. See if you see what I see. That's all I'm saying. 2 1/2 wks
