Went out yesterday. I went to a favorite spot where I have seen lots of Grouse recently. I ran Ted alone and he found what I think is the last Woodcock in the U.P. Not one Grouse point. I was perplexed. I know that they are in the area and I covered a lot of ground. I assumed after some unproductive points that the Grouse were running and gave up. Within view of the truck Ted went on point. He does this often to get to play a little more. I told him so and walked to the truck, unloaded the gun, loaded the stuff. Then walked to Ted on point again this time 50 yards into the woods. Cursing the whole time about him not wanting to get in the truck I walked to him. Stopped and said come here. A double Grouse flush is what happened next. Yep I am a idiot and have not learned this lesson enough yet.

It is getting to the end of season and this year was better than the last. I have 15 tail feathers from grouse and killed twice as many woodcock at least. I will put a board together soon of all the feathers after season is over. I will not hunt the second season.
