Country Clipper Professional Pet Grooming

Country Clipper Professional Pet Grooming The Country Clipper is closed. Steve is retired. Steve Vandenberg is a 2001 graduate of Great Lakes Academy of Professional Pet Styling.

Equipped to handle all size pets in a safe and sanitary shop, the Country Clipper offers a calming environment with a separate grooming area. This helps to alleviate some of the stress associated with grooming. The Country Clipper grooming room is bright, cheery and always has music playing. Steve takes the time to work with each pet to make the grooming experience a positive one for both pet and

groomer. Steve’s calm yet assertive manner is one that pets respond well to. When time allows he plays with each pet after their groom to add an element of fun to the experience and further strengthen the rapport he establishes with them.

No party, no gold watch or a stock payout. As a small business owner, this guy just quietly hung up his clippers & shears one last time and closed the door. This man's pet grooming career is worth celebrating, though. In 2002 he went to school to learn the trade then worked at a shop in Northern MI to hone his skills. He then bravely opened up his own place and The Country Clipper was born. When we relocated to the Lansing area he successfully started over. Steve the Groomer has a gift when it comes to working with pets. He calms the aggressive and frightened and plays and loves on the ones that welcome his attention. Steve is a talented groomer, working his artistic talent on all breeds. He has crawled around on the floor to work with pups that are too physically challenged to get on a table, he has picked up and delivered dogs for owners who couldn't get out and kept pets all day with a morning drop off, all for no extra charge. Steve has warned pet parents of possible health issues discovered during a groom. He took pride in knowing that every pet leaving the shop was clean, happy and he could easily run a comb throughout their coat without a snag. Over the years The Country Clipper supported community organizations by donating gift certificates for fundraisers and for some time donated a portion of groom fees to an animal shelter. Covid was a challenge for all but after a short closure, Steve reopened, adopting practices to promote safety & wellness including meeting clients at their cars in all kinds of weather. Even as he was battling cancer, Steve communicated with his customers and worked on days when he was not 100%. He will tell you that he has met some pretty great people over the years and enjoyed the conversations, often about the awesome music selections that always played in the shop or devotion to his Chicago sports teams. He appreciated the yummy homemade jams & baked goods people brought and most especially those follow-up phone calls of how pleased a customer was with the job he did. Most of all Steve loved the animals and found it a privilege and joy to "play" with them. He mourn ed the loss when getting the dreaded call that one had passed. So, please join me in congratulating my husband, Steve the Groomer, on his successful career and wish him good health & great memory making in retirement.

Hello, It's been awhile since we made a post and wanted to provide an update. Due to some health challenges Steve has decided to go parttime. He continues to serve many regular clients and is taking on the occasional new one. He is limiting his service to smaller breeds and those that don't require excessive sc******ng. We have taken down our website to alleviate the expense. The best and most efficient was to reach Steve is by call or text 517-348-8629. Thank you to our customers for your continued support.

Hello all. Haven't posted in awhile. We want to share a few updates. We have lifted business practices in line with health department recommendations. First, know that Steve is fully vaccinated and will no longer be wearing a mask. We ask customers who are not fully vaccinated to please wear one in consideration of our customers and their fur babies. Customers can park and come around to the back door for drop off and pick up. Appointments at this point are about 4 weeks out. We very much appreciate our loyal customers. It is recommended that if you would like to get on a regular schedule that you make your next appointment during your fur baby pick up.

Who took their pups for a walk this beautiful weekend? We did. Sidewalk/road salt can be rough on paws. Be sure to wipe them well with a damp towel to remove salt residue. Keep an eye out for cracks in their pads or for licking of paws. Salt can be corrosive to pads and tongues.
