UPDATE: fosters found! Thank you!

Peekaboo… who wants to foster me? 🐾

This tiny mama Chihuahua and her 3 little pups need a foster home for 3-6 weeks, depending on your summer schedule.

We provide the supplies. You provide the safe, cozy space and the love. 💛

Ideally, we’re looking for someone who isn’t gone more than 6 hours at a time, since mama is still caring for her babies.

Because these little ones are so vulnerable, fosters must either be a current or previous Happy Little Rescue volunteer or foster, or be willing to complete a home check before placement.

And a friendly reminder: fosters get priority when it comes to adopting. So if you fall in love… well, we warned you. 😉🐶

It’s $2 Tuesday, and today we’re asking for help keeping our tiny patients moving forward. 💛

Yesterday we took little Buttercup to Kokopelli to make sure she was healthy enough before getting fixed, and this 7-pound sweetheart gave us a little surprise.

Buttercup is blind.

She has premature cataracts, but honestly, most people would never know. Her little internal GPS is incredible. She gets around so well, finds your lap, finds your hand, and then rewards you with the tiniest, sweetest kisses.

She is going to make someone the most wonderful lap baby very soon. She doesn’t need a home that is completely modified for her. She just needs someone who won’t rearrange the furniture every other week.

And Buttercup is just one of many right now.

We have dogs and cats getting fixed through Roice-Hurst, Dolly’s skin culture is still pending, Biggie goes in tomorrow for a recheck on his paws, and our Kokopelli bill is climbing again. We are sitting at about $1,200 there right now.

So today, we are asking for $2 Tuesday donations to help us keep saying yes to the little ones like Buttercup, the medical mysteries like Dolly, the chronic care kids like Biggie, and all the dogs and cats who deserve to be healthy, safe, and loved.

$2 helps.
$5 helps.
$20 helps.
Sharing helps.

No amount is too small when there are this many little lives depending on us.

Please donate today and help us keep getting them in. 💛

☀️ Good morning from Gigi. ☀️

While the sun was rising this morning, Gigi’s spirit was rising too. 💛

Gigi cannot walk, but if you know Gigi, you know that has never stopped her from living a big, bossy, determined little life. She has been in foster for just shy of a year, and honestly, she had a pretty good gig. Her foster was home most of the time, and Gigi got to romp around outside in her very Gigi-style army crawl, soaking up the sunshine and ruling her little world.

Now she is back at the rescue, living in our front office. She has friends. She has people who love her. She gets taken on adventures in her little cart so she can lay in the grass, relax by a lake, and still be part of the world.

But even with all of that, she has been feeling a little blue.

And then came puppies.

Recently, we took in three little puppies from a houseless individual who was trying to care for them out in triple-digit heat. Thanks to Chow Down for connecting us, these babies are now safe with us.

So this morning, before the weather turned unbearable, Gigi got exactly what she needed.

Puppies.

Tiny, wiggly, ridiculous puppies.

And Gigi lit up.

There is something pretty special about watching a dog who has every reason to feel a little tired of the world suddenly remember that life still has joy in it.

This morning, Gigi played with puppies while the sun came up.

And for a little while, everything felt exactly right.

Maybe I need a break.

People ask us all the time, “How do you not take them all home?” Or they say, “Oh, I could never volunteer there because I would want to take everyone home.”

Which, by the way, is a terrible excuse.

You won’t.

We won’t let you.

And honestly, after you clean enough kennels, do enough laundry, break up enough puppy wrestling matches, and meet enough dogs with very specific opinions about life, you will understand that helping them does not mean personally collecting them all like Pokémon.

But regular volunteers are truly one of our biggest needs. Consistent help makes a huge difference here.

That being said…

Maybe I do need a break because lately I have caught myself looking at a few of them like, “Okay, but what if I did have two little old lions running around my house?” Or, “Surely one extremely expensive bulldog would fit somewhere.” Or, “What’s a couple more seniors dragging themselves around my backyard?”

Please remember I live in a 750-square-foot house with three dogs, a turtle, and six-year-old twins, while working 60 to 70 hours a week.

So this feels concerning.

This must be how hoarding starts. I have heard it is always with love and good intentions.

Anyway, please send someone to adopt two little senior lions before I make questionable life choices.

Thank you so much to Red Rock Dealerships for not only choosing Happy Little Rescue for this incredibly generous $14,636 donation, but for truly seeing the work we are doing.

Rescue is beautiful, but it is also constant. It is early mornings, late nights, emergency vet visits, laundry that never ends, scared dogs learning to trust, sick babies needing a chance, and animals who have nowhere else to go becoming part of our happy little family.

A donation like this does not just help for one day. It carries us. It helps us say yes when a dog needs medical care. It helps keep food bowls full, lights on, vaccines given, animals fixed, and second chances possible.

We are so grateful to Red Rock Dealerships and to every single person in this community who believes in our mission.

Happy Little Rescue has always been about more than saving animals. It is about creating a happy place for pets and people, and support like this reminds us that we are not doing it alone.

Thank you, Red Rock. From all of us, and from every dog and cat (and all the other pets) whose life has been touched by this gift. 🐾❤️
