URGENT: We are down to our LAST bottle of bleach! 🚨

The last time we put out a bleach call, our community showed up in the most incredible way — over 50 bottles of bleach were donated within 24 hours, making it our most successful bleach drive EVER.

So now the question is…

Can we beat it? 😅🧼

From dogs rolling around in the grass like little Louie does, to puppies eating on the floor, to the everyday rescue messes that come with caring for so many animals, bleach is one of those boring-but-absolutely-essential supplies we use constantly to keep things clean, disinfected, and safe.

If you’d like to send an Instacart, Sam’s Club, Walmart, or other delivery straight to the rescue, our address is:

Happy Little Rescue
2527 W. Pinyon Ave.
Grand Junction, CO 81505

Thank you for helping us keep the rescue clean, sanitized, and ready for the pets who need us. 🐾❤️

WOW. Just wow. 🥹

Yesterday, $629 was donated for $2 Tuesday, making it one of our largest $2 Tuesdays ever!

A huge part of that came from one amazing couple who, in lieu of wedding gifts, asked their guests to donate to one of two lucky nonprofits — and Happy Little Rescue was lucky enough to be one of them. We also had support from a wonderful monthly donor who has been donating from the very beginning. Those steady, faithful gifts mean more than we can ever fully explain.

And now for a little Bruin update. 💛

I always knew rescue meant no days off, but I was kind of hoping to spend a couple fun days with my kids during their summer break… especially since I am apparently not organized or prepared enough to have them enrolled in camp yet. Instead, they are getting extra screen time while I administer fluids, give meds, and syringe feed a tiny puppy who needs us.

My six-year-old twins are helping… sort of. 😂

Bruin was born in a car in Texas with his mom and littermates. His mama is safe and in a foster home now, but this little guy has really been missing her. The good news is, he is finally starting to settle in with our family, getting into the groove of things, and feeling a little more content.

Now we just need to keep him strong and make sure he keeps getting the nutrients he needs. The amazing crew at Kokopelli set us up with everything they could, knowing these next few days are crucial and will help determine if Bruin is able to keep growing and thriving.

He is simply the runt of the litter and was dealt the short end of the stick, but he is already so loved.

Thank you for showing up for him. Thank you for showing up for all of them. Because of you, little lives like Bruin’s get every chance we can possibly give them. 🐾

Thank you: Stephanie, Sharon, Jamie, Camila, Ashley, Danielle, Leanna, Brittney, Sherry, Karina, Brandee! 🐾 💕

$2 Tuesday update for little Bruin 💔

This tiny boy is fighting some very big things.

At the vet, we found out Bruin has iron-deficiency anemia, no blood platelets, and what is likely a bladder infection. Because he is so small (2.8 #) , our options are limited, but we are doing everything we can.

He received Cerenia and fluids at the vet, and now our plan is to get him eating whatever food he is willing to eat. He’s on antibiotics. In a few days, we will be starting B vitamins to give his little body every bit of support we can.

Bruin is the runt of the litter, but he is also one of our Happy Little Rescue dogs, and that means we will go as far as we can humanely, just like we do for every single pet who lands in our care.

We say yes to the hard cases because we trust that this community will step up with us.

This $2 Tuesday, Bruin could really use all the love, good thoughts, and $2 donations we can send his way.

Something embarrassing about me?

I am a tiny bit afraid of cats. 😅

Yes, I will happily handle all the dogs, pit bulls (my favorite), Boston terrier chaos, bulldog wrinkles, mystery mutts, nervous dogs, giant dogs, spicy dogs… but kitties? Kitties have always made me feel like I am one wrong move away from being 🦈 🔪

So I’ll admit it: I had to be talked into saving cats.

And I am so, so glad I was.

Because the need is huge.

These three “Bush Kitties” came to us after a desperate plea from someone whose coworker had taken a mama cat out of state, leaving three young kittens behind to fend for themselves. They were tiny, vulnerable, and hiding in a bush with no mama to protect them.

We took them in, and a kind foster gave them a safe place to land, but even with care, they still seemed to be declining. They needed extra support, close monitoring, and a whole lot of TLC.

Today, we are so happy to report that with love from our volunteers (shout out to Elaine!), these little Bush Kitties are looking great. They are eating, growing, relaxing, and fully enjoying the hammock life like tiny royalty. 🐾

This is what $2 Tuesday does.

It helps us say yes to the tiny ones hiding in bushes.
It helps us to vet and buy medicine, supplies, and all the little things that add up fast.
It helps us care for animals who may not have survived without someone stepping in.

Please consider sending $2 today because even the smallest gifts help turn scared little bush babies into safe, spoiled hammock kittens.

⚠️ Warning to all staff members: if you share it on Slack, I might share it with the world. 😂

So please consider this your official encouragement to continue all goofy behavior, silly singing, and sunset serenades… because, yes, last potty breaks are better with a soundtrack.

Featuring Stephanie giving Timothy and Minnie Winnie their last sunset potty break like the absolute rescue rockstar she is. 🌅🐾

Happy Little Rescue: where the dogs are loved, the humans are weird, and the Slack channel is not a safe space for cuteness.

So many people have been commenting on this handsome boy when they spot him in the background of videos and photos… so we figured it was time for a little Enoki update. 🐾

Enoki was one of eight puppies who came to us from Texas with their mom, Mama Houla, after landing on the euthanasia list. This little family was given a second chance, and we have loved watching every one of them grow into their own happy little possibility.

Enoki went to several adoption events without really catching anyone’s eye, which is hard to believe because… just look at him. Those curls. That face. That personality.

But sometimes the right people just haven’t walked through the door yet.

A couple of our regular volunteer dog walkers mentioned they were hoping to find a curly-haired dog, and honestly, it felt like fate. They had already loved walking Mama Houla, and today, Enoki is officially on a home trial with them!

We are crossing every paw that this is the perfect match because some stories don’t happen fast… they happen exactly when they’re supposed to. 💛

Brad Pittsky would like to thank his fans. 🐾☕️✨

A huge thank you to everyone who stopped by The Human Bean today to say hello to our June Dog of the Month, Brad Pittsky! This guy had the BEST time meeting visitors, collecting attention, accepting compliments, and fully embracing his celebrity status.

Brad came to us as an unclaimed stray, but today he was giving total “beloved local icon” energy. He is now looking for an active partner in life who is ready for adventures, walks, coffee runs, and a best friend who thinks every outing should include a little bit of attention from the public.

We are so grateful to everyone who came out to meet him, sent in their “coffee” donation, grabbed a drink, shared the event, or cheered him on from afar. Every bit of support helps Brad and all the pets at Happy Little Rescue.

And of course, a huge thank you to The Human Bean for continuing to support rescue pets through Coffee for a Cause. We are so excited to hear this month’s totals, with $1 from every drink sold going directly to the pets in our care!

You still have time to stop by the Grand Junction or Clifton Human Bean locations today for a tea, smoothie, coffee, or your favorite drink, because every cup helps rescue pets like Brad feel like the stars they are. 💛
