Today was round one of “Operation Snowstorm Zoe”. This is one of the “fun” things about having a great Pyrenese in your life. They blow their coat at least once, sometimes twice a year. So you have to brush, brush, brush and brush some more. And then when you’re done brushing….you brush some more!!!😝. A lot people just say, “why don’t you shave her in the summer?” BIG no no with great Pyrenese. Their coat is the perfect design for insulation for cold and heat release for hot. If you shave their coats it damages the undercoat and that perfect hot/cold thermostat is ruined. And there is my little tidbit of worthless knowledge. Lol. She was such a good girl for her spa treatment that she got 2 chew bone and lots of peanut butter doggie cookies. ♥️♥️♥️

So this little lady thinks she is broody. I say she is not. She yells at me, I calmly tell her she is not mother material, she pecks my hand, I take the eggs, most of which she just claimed by squatters rights, and then she gives me the death glare. Then I hear her whisper,”we will battle tomorrow human, and I will win”. And I let her have her little moment. Whom ever said chickens are dumb and have no personalities has obviously never actually met a chicken. 😝

So Monday afternoon Sadie and I went on a little road trip to Adam’s, Nebraska. I have wanted Sweetgrass turkeys for a LONG time. We got 7 turkey poults(that’s what they call baby turkeys) and 3 guineas Keets (baby guineas) that were not pre approved. lol. All are doing great, and I’m so excited for the new additions to Hawleywood Acres. One of the 3 week olds was not having this new home thing. Wanted to hide in the corner. So me being the turkey whisperer, I swooped it out of the box and snuggled it in a towel and laid it on my chest while I chilled in the recliner. He/she finally relaxed and fell asleep. The sweetest little thing. That was all it took…it’s happy as a clam now. 🥰The last picture is the turkeys parents. So beautiful. Thank you again Derek Lempka!!!

We have some beautiful heritage turkeys available now!! Mom was Narragansett, dad is bourbon red. This years hatch, so approx 6 months old. Hens and Tom’s available. $35 each. Fairly tame. Come when called. And loves to “talk turkey” with humans. Located grand island
