Lakeshore Parrot Haven Sanctuary rescue

Thank you to all who have clicked "like" on my post. It is with such gratitude that I write this to each and every one of you. Most of you now know that my Lakeshore Parrot Haven Sanctuary is no longer operational at the Doris Court Location. I now have relocated to 1025 Waverly Ave. in Grand Haven,Michigan 49417. Phone numbers have changed. This change is all due to the house fire that took my Doris Court house,pets,vehicles,etc. on March 16,2018. I am beginning to assemble new parrots but continue to grieve for those lost in the fire. I continue to read all names who have checked my Sanctuary site and continue to offer a refuge for parrots that need rehoming.

For over 30 years I had a sanctuary of parrots. They were my lifeline , In March of 2018 My home and everything burned-yes everything. This sanctuary continues but at a different address and I am gradually putting together my new family

To update information on my site- I have added to my setting up my aviary work- a blue crown conure came into my life due to a friend passing and she had been this parrots bonded parrot for most of it's life. It has given me a chance to practice some of the knowledge and experience I've had for helping parrots to adjust to rehoming. (It has also lit my desire to get into the rain forest for another trip but that is out in the future, I hope.)

Thank you! Cannot get much out to you on my haven as I am still coping with reestablishing my avian contacts after the horrible fire in March. Please offer some prayers to help me in my quest for a Moluccan, macaw, etc. Maxine (grey) and Zeke(quaker) are doing well and I have moved them to their new home so that there will be no more changes for them. I am in the process of getting myself moved in,also ,but do keep daily contact.(And Benny Bunny and Oliver continue to do well.) I do appreciate anyone who takes a look at the site as it is all I have to hold onto my past. The grief continues but any ositive feedback is appreciated. AND this is not a business...FB puts this down as that but it is nothing I sell or ask for donations. Purpose is to hold onto my memories of my birds,trips, groups,etc. I have lost so much...I am holding onto this.

I have the African Grey(Maxine) and Quaker (Zeke) lion headed bunny (Benny) and standard poodle service puppy (Oliver).Love them dearly . However,the sense of loss and loneliness is just over-whelming. Trying to move to a small home so I can add to my life but can't even get help to do this.I AM grateful but I am alone and lonely!

You are all aware that this is the site for me and my love of parrots. Most also know that I lost everything in a terrible house fire on March 16,2018. This was a 100% loss-including my parrots. I am in temporary housing but will be reestablishing myself and my work with parrots as I am able to. I am retired from teaching and I do not have the resources to financially go where I was in my life. Of this, however,be certain-as devastated and in grief as I am, I cannot cut out my parrot work. I must have them in my life for life to have meaning for me. I ask for patience, understanding, and compassion as I go through this. I will continue to post this page and update it as I am able.
