🐍 Snake Season is Here – We’re Here to Help at no cost! 🐍

As spring arrives, so does an increase in snake activity. With warmer temperatures and more people spending time outdoors gardening, hiking, and enjoying their yards, snake encounters become more common.

At Hood County Snake Relocation, we provide a FREE, professional snake relocation service to ensure the safety of both residents and wildlife. Our trained volunteers handle all snake species and prioritize education on the importance of nonvenomous snakes in the ecosystem.

Our Approach:
βœ… Safe & Humane Relocation – We carefully remove and relocate all snakes, including venomous species.
βœ… Education & Awareness – Many snakes help control rodent populations and should be left alone when possible.
βœ… Conservation-Focused – Relocation is a responsible alternative to killing, preserving the natural balance of our environment.

If you encounter a snake and need assistance:

As we head into peak snake season, remember that encountering a snake doesn’t have to be a crisis. Instead of resorting to lethal measures, let us handle the situation safely and responsibly.

It’s been a busy night in DeCordova. Two back to back calls. First up was a Diamondback Watersnake (Nerodia rhombifer). A common sighting on Lake Granbury, this harmless snake loves to eat amphibians and fish. Then it was on to get a really nice adult Western ratsnake (Pantherophis obsoletus) from a porch where it was searching for birds nests on the top of a rock column. Both of the snakes are totally harmless to people and pets alike and are great snakes to have around. If you ever have a snake that needs identification or to be relocated please do not hesitate to reach out. We do not charge anything for these services.

Eastern Hognose (Heterodon platirhinos) are well known for their dramatic defensive flaring, hissing, bluff striking, and mouth gaping. Tonight we relocated this defensive but harmless Hognose from a yard with dogs. It will now be safe and free to eat as many toads as it can find.

Remember to give us a call/text if you need a snake relocated or even just a quick snake ID. We can also be reached by messaging this page. We do not charge for our services.
