This is a full Saturday, starting between 8:30-9 a.m. and ending between 4:30-5 p.m. Our academy is a great way for children to learn more about horses, as our day starts in the classroom with American History as it pertains to the horse, Horse 101, horse tack and basic care, and a horse-related craft. The kids even get to make the horses some treats! After a snack, we will head to the barn to interact with the horses, with hands-on experiences brushing, saddling and bridling. The day ends with a trail ride, a wagon ride, and then wraps up with a cowboy cookout over the campfire. Cost is $225/child. Our first two Academy days for 2022 are May 7 and May 21. They are currently full. Our next two Academy dates are to be determined. Planning a party? Thinking about something fun for your group to do? BDRR may be your perfect venue! Or, we may be a great addition to a party -Bridal parties, Girl Scouts, Boy Scouts, Church groups. Reach out to us and we'll see what we can do!

When I (Tammy Friederich) decided to start Black Diamond Riding Ranch back in 2020, we were in the beginning stages of a pandemic. I really never imagined the business would thrive as it has. It was overwhelming at times, trying to keep up with the demand from the public, caring for the horses, being creative with new ideas, and keeping the scheduling in order. I never advertised, other than on fb, because we already struggled to keep up with our ever-growing customer base. We have met some of the most amazing people throughout the last few years! I can't even begin to describe how easy it is to connect and feel like family with people who love and appreciate horses. We have spent time in the saddle with those who have never even touched a horse, to seasoned riders who just wanted to take a fun trail ride on a horse other than their own. We have taken riders on our trails from age 2 up to 84, and what a ride it has been!

This business was started with a handful of my own personal horses, and I bought a few along the way. I have lost a couple of amazing horses due to age and health issues, and Zoe, age 25, and Reese, 30+, are being retired this year. They deserve an easy retirement and a good life, and that's exactly what they'll get. This brings me to the reason for this post.

I will not be open for trail rides in 2024. I need my spare time to work with a few of my horses who need more saddle time before allowing the public to ride them. My trail guides and I will put some miles on them this year and hopefully have them ready next year.

I have 8 gift certificates out there which I will honor. If you are holding a gift certificate, please reach out to me. We WILL hit the trails together, and I'm looking forward to it.

I refer many to Cook Forest Scenic Trail Rides, and there are also a few others out there offering lessons and trail rides (please feel free to put your info below so my customers can find you and learn what you offer).

I still have some pretty great horses here, and hopefully, with some help from my amazing guides (Tara, Jess and Lexi), we will be able to resume our crazy trail riding schedule in 2025. Until then, I'll keep you updated. Look for us in the Grampian parade this summer, and be sure to let us know you're there! Thank you all for the support and love you've given us. We truly appreciate you!

Please continue to follow us, as we plan to offer a night of family fun this summer at BDRR. Of course, the horses will be here for you to mingle with, along with a campfire, music, good food, good company and old fashioned family fun!

Our Halloween bash at BDRR wrapped things up for the year. After being pushed out a week due to horrible weather, we had a few kids who couldn't make it, but we still had lots of fun.

These ladies kicked off the day by doing a scavenger hunt. They split into 2 teams and had a list of barn/horse items to find on the trails. When they found all items on their list, they went into a wheelbarrow which they had to push back to the barn. This took some serious teamwork. They even hit a "speed bump" with a full wheelbarrow which they assumed was a rock. Come to find out, it was a dead coyote. Lol. Once they made it to the barn, we went over all items in the wheelbarrow and made sure they knew what they were and how to use them (shovel, pitchfork, halter, salve, hoof pick, fly mask, horse shoe, fly spray, girth, etc).

They went for a trail ride, decorated picture frames for a photo of their choice, and we ATE lots of food! They played in the hay, groomed horses, and we even ended up ordering pizza because it was too windy to make s'mores over a campfire.

I love the leadership and friendships formed at these events. We had West Branch Warriors, Golden Tide, and Clearfield Bison girls in the house (barn). Likeminded kids coming together to learn is an amazing thing to see.

Thank you to all the parents/grandparents who support these crazy horse girls! You rock!

Thank you Patti Lawson for braving the cold, wind, and rain with me through this one. Your help was greatly appreciated!

Reagan, Kenlee, Zoey, Rae, Hattie, Audrey, and Lex, you girls were a blast!

It's a wrap for this season. We hope to see all of you next year!

It's dental exam day for Frio and Abbott with McCarthy Equine Dentistry. Both horses were great. Thanks Sean!
