I've seen numerous posts about rabbitry owners struggling to catch mice without harming animals or using chemicals... but here's a game-changer: my husband crafted an ingenious trap using a 5-gallon bucket, cardboard, screws, and wire. Our rabbitry, made of pallets with a fully enclosed roof, is now mouse-catching territory. If you're looking for ideas, searching '5-gallon DIY bucket mouse traps' on YouTube yields impressive results. We've had remarkable success, catching 11 mice in one evening and keeping our rabbitry pest-free so far. We'll continue to utilize this humane solution, relocating the caught mice to our outdoor freezer as snake food for our ball pythons and any offspring, ensuring nothing goes to waste on our homestead.

Just a few days ago, one of my stunning splash hens gifted me with this breathtaking beauty... and though she was suddenly taken from my flock by a sneaky opossum 😔, I'm choosing to focus on the promise of new beginnings. I hadn't started collecting her eggs yet, planning to give her a few more weeks before incubating them to replicate that gorgeous shade with white specks, but now I'm more determined than ever to keep trying and make my dreams a reality.

Such a weird phenomenon to see. A winter moon, snow moon, it goes by many names. But of course.....it set all the homestead in a crazy heehaw of noise, everyone decided they needed to be heard at midnight.

In the midst of uncertainty, we're reaching out for a helping hand. 2025 has presented its challenges, but together, we can rise above them. Your support means the world to us! If you're able to contribute, please consider donating via Cash App or reach out to me directly via messenger Rae Mcfarland for alternative options. We're in urgent need of straw, hay, feed for our chickens, ducks, quail, rabbits, and more. Perhaps you have some supplies on hand that you no longer need? We're based in Gore, Oklahoma, and a recent setback has left us rebuilding in certian areas, especially the rabbitry. Donations of building materials, woodchips, cages, and more would be greatly appreciated but would need delievered. Your kindness will go a long way! 😔. Every contribution, big or small, brings us closer to recovery. If you're unable to donate, please know that your thoughts and prayers mean everything to us. Thank you in advance. We hope you all have a very blessed New Year! Here's to 2026 and hoping its a better one for us all!

Wonderful friends! This is khalessi, shes like an old cranky granny always making a ruckus and we adore her attitude! I'm so excited to see her grow, and she's getting close to that special moment! As her loving caregiver, I'm keeping track of her progress through visual checks since she only allows me to touch her belly once or twice a week. A trusted friend estimates she's got about a month to go, give or take a little 😅 - what do you all think? We were told she was heavily pregnant when I brought her home at the end of October, and now it's December 30th, and her bag is filling up but not quite full yet, with some sinking in around her hips. She's not too keen on letting me check her ligaments unless I catch her off guard, and I don't want to stress her out any further. So, with that said, what are your thoughts? How many days do you think this amazing girl has left? How many days will she carry her precious load? How many babies do you think she has? We've got three does bred, maybe four, but I'll share more about them later - the last picture shows the day I brought this lovely ornery girl home.

Jasper is basically the nicest buck on our homestead 🤣 he's ridiculously playful and addicted to headbutting fist bumps. He's extremely gentle and just a total sweetheart.
