This has been a really wonderful foaling season for us. Our fourth and final baby arrived yesterday. Another Colonels Shining Gun out of a daughter of Shootin for Chics. Lots of chrome, blue eyes, and adorable personality. After breeding for 35+ years, this is our first red dun. We're calling her Jolene. Welcome, little one! The dedicated team at The Ranch Equine has been great to work with. We used to stress out during foaling season, but they've allowed us to have peace of mind so we can enjoy the magic of this time of year.

And here comes another one! This big, sturdy guy arrived last night. He's by Colonels Shining Gun out of A Tru Dun It (x Matt Dillon Dun It). He was so big, at first he seemed to be having a bit of trouble getting out! JAF at The Ranch Equine wasn't about to let mom Didi face this alone, and Dr. Kenzie was racing back to the barn to help, when Didi twisted and gave a good push, and out he popped! Another stunning Jojo baby! Special thanks to JAF and Dr. Kenzie. We can't say enough good things about the dedication and skill of the team at The Ranch Equine.

Oh look, another little beauty! Buttercup's filly arrived early this morning. This is her first baby, and this little princess has "great genes"! Her daddy is Mega Watt Shine, mama is daughter of Ima Pale Whiz. The c**t we raised in 2020 by MWS out of Ima Pale Whiz just sold for $340,000 at the Ride the Wave sale in Ocala. Keep an eye on this one! 😍😍😍

Our first 2026 foal arrived early this morning, and he's perfect. We had our fingers crossed, hoping for a bay with lots of white, and that's exactly what we got. And look at that crazy tail! Woohoo! This is "Smooch," our 2020 foal out of Missy (Ima Pale Whiz). Isn't he fancy! He's the whole package, and he turned out to be just as special as we thought he would be! Apparently we aren't the only ones who think so. Now known as "Baxter," he just sold at Premier Horse Sales Ride the Wave sale in Ocala, FL for $340,000. Many good years ahead for this beautiful guy!

We're finishing the 2025 foaling season on a high note! Our big, beautiful buckskin tobiano mare Didi (A Tru Dun It) gave us a big surprise this morning! Her Colonels Shining Gun foal wasn't due until May 10 and she was barely starting to wax, so we weren't expecting this! Fortunately, she had him during a break in the weather, and he was already dried off and enjoying breakfast. He looks a lot like his Dad, doesn't he? All that white! You can't see it in the picture, but even his tail is all white except right at the top. He and Mom took their first trailer ride together to the vet this afternoon and he got his plasma. They're back home now, and both are doing great!

Sometimes we wonder why we continue to raise horses, as we continue to discover even more answers to "what else could possibly go wrong?" All of you who do this know what I mean. We go from high highs to low lows, and we learn to accept what we can't change. And then we have days like today, when we wake up to find that God has given us another of His miracles. We've had a lot of beautiful, athletic foals by Mega Watt Shine, and I think this little guy is destined to be one of our best yet. His mama is a talented, good-minded daughter of Shootin for Chics. This boy came out looking jet black, but now that he's dried off I think he'll probably turn out to be a very dark bay. He has stunning Splash markings. Both eyes are blue, white on all four legs, and a blaze that seems to have gone slightly off course. And now we remember why we do it - it's for mornings like this.🥰
