Hey friends! π¦π¬ I wanted to shed some light on an important topic in the reptile community: cohabitation of leopard geckos.
While it might seem like a space-saving idea or even a way to give your pet some company, cohabiting leopard geckos often leads to problems:
Stress & Aggression: Even if they appear to get along initially, over time one may become dominant, leading to the bullying of the other.
Unequal Food & Resource Distribution: One gecko may hog the food, water, or prime basking spots, preventing the other from getting their necessary nutrients and comfort.
Risk of Injury: Fights can and do happen, sometimes resulting in tail loss or other injuries.
Disease Spread: If one gecko becomes ill, it can rapidly spread to the other in close quarters.
It's always best to prioritize the health and well-being of our scaly friends. If you're considering getting more than one leopard gecko, please think about setting up separate enclosures for them. It's a small step that goes a long way in ensuring they live long, happy, and healthy lives! β€οΈπ¦
