Meet Dolly, the beautiful blonde poodle, and her brothers Sage and Thomas! We’ve also had the pleasure of caring for their wonderful parents, Cinder and Ernest.
Cinder gave us quite a journey during her pregnancy—her pre-whelping radiographs revealed healthy pups, and she even recovered from a retrobulbar abscess while pregnant. Thanks to dedicated care at home, she healed smoothly and went on to deliver a healthy litter with no complications.

These pups have certainly kept our team busy: from a cheat-grass eye puncture, to ear infections, to final health certificates for their new homes. Their family has gone above and beyond for this high-maintenance poodle crew—and loved them so much they’re keeping Sage and Thomas!

We love being part of their story. 💙🐩

Whether you’ve welcomed a new holiday pet into the family or you’re caring for your long-time best friend, microchipping is one of the most important steps you can take to keep them safe.

We use HomeAgain microchips, which give your pet a permanent ID linked to your contact information.
🐶🐱 And yes — cats need microchips too!

💡 Remember: A microchip only works if your info is current. Make sure your phone number, address, and email are up to date on your account.

A tiny chip = a lifetime of protection. ❤️

🎄🐾 Holiday Pet Stockings: Smarter Dental Chews for Dogs and Cats! 🦷

While you’re stocking your pets’ stockings, remember — not all “dental chews” actually help your dog or cat’s teeth!
If the package calls it a treat, it doesn’t have to prove it reduces plaque or tartar.

For real dental benefits, choose products with the VOHC (Veterinary Oral Health Council) seal. These have been tested and shown to reduce plaque and/or tartar for both dogs and cats.

Healthy teeth mean fresher breath, healthier gums, and a happier, healthier pet—no matter the species. ❤️🦷

Gooding’s Gem

Gem Veterinary Clinic has been providing veterinary care to the Gooding area since the 1960s. The clinic has remained in its original location, undergoing several big renovations through the decades. The rich history and community involvement of this clinic will be proudly continued by its newest veterinarian, Dr. Amber Parish. Dr. Parish bought Gem Veterinary Clinic from Dr. Jack Amen in March 2018. She re-branded the practice as Gooding Veterinary Clinic.

Dr. Parish graduated from Washington State University’s College of Veterinary Medicine in 2016. She and her husband, Jake, moved to Mountain Home, Idaho right after graduation. Jake started working as an accountant at FBWB Accounting Firm (now Eide Bailly) here in Gooding while Amber worked at Knight Veterinary Clinic in Mountain Home. Jake was warmly welcomed into his new firm and the community of Gooding. So when Amber was approached about purchasing Gem Veterinary Clinic an idea started brewing. After over a year of consideration and planning, Jake and Amber decided to buy the clinic and move their little family closer to home.

Jake’s family is from the Hagerman, Glenns Ferry, and Bruneau areas. Amber’s family farms and raises cattle in Filer. Jake and Amber have three children. They enjoy being outdoors as a family -snowboarding/skiing, camping, kayaking, and swimming. The family is involved in 4H and rec sports as well as horseback riding and helping on their grandparents’ farm.
