We could use your help! Luna is a new arrival at the shelter who recently went to have her spay surgery. This sweet girl did well, but unfortunately her recovery has been rough. She ripped her spay incision and had to go in for an urgent surgery to fix her back up… which ended up being a $931 bill. She is healing up nicely now, but we would really appreciate any donations to help with this unexpected bill! Any donations can be sent via PayPal or cash/check can be dropped off at the AC office. We really appreciate your support ❤️

P.S. Luna is available for adoption and she is absolutely wonderful!! She is friendly, gentle, and curious. She loves getting pets and going for walks. She has wonderful leash manners and we think she may be house trained! She is 3yrs old and 50lbs.

It’s National Dog Day 🐶 and there are ‼️FIVE DAYS‼️ left in our Clear the Shelters promotion!! What’s a better way to celebrate than to adopt your new best friend?!?! We’d like to re-introduce you to our girl, Leslie! At the shelter, we know Leslie as an anxious, confused girl who seeks out her kennel for comfort. Today, she went on an outing with volunteers and was a completely new dog. She was affectionate and curious, with moments of fearfulness, but with encouragement she was very brave ❤️ Leslie has a case of low confidence that is amplified at the shelter and once she was away from the hustle of the shelter, her true personality came out.

Leslie was great in the car! She was content to lay down and watch out the window. She was slowly introduced to 4 dogs, 2 cats, and even met pigs and goats! She was friendly and curious to meet them all with her tail wagging. After meeting, she was happy to coexist and was perfectly neutral. It seems like Leslie is a little bit socially awkward and doesn’t really know how to play with other dogs, but at the end of her excursion, she opened up and started playing with a cat (video in the comments)! She was a perfect guest in the house! She didn’t hop on any furniture and was happy to explore and get pets. She loved her treat of tuna and even knows “sit” and “down”!

Leslie came as a stray, so we’re not quite sure what her life looked like before the shelter. It was clear today that lots of experiences are new to her, from walking on hardwood floor to kitchen noises. She is looking for a family that will be kind and gentle and will show her the world isn’t scary. She is a loyal, loving girl and will love her people very deeply.

Leslie would like to do any meet & greets away from the shelter and at your home. We are more than happy to bring her to you and facilitate that! Leslie is a dog that will require patience and effort, but she is so deserving to find that. Malone is still waiting on his forever home💙🐶 He has been in a foster home for a few months now and is the most gentle, sweet boy. Here’s what his foster mom has written about him:

“Hi I’m Malone and I am a very good boy! I get on well with other dogs and am calm and curious around well behaved and supervised children. I don’t jump up on people and I rarely bark. My foster mom appreciates that I do not counter surf, dumpster dive, or beg for food!

I have free roam of the house and can go outside whenever I want. When I first came here, I was so scared I didn’t want to leave the kennel. It look me weeks to build up the courage to explore my surroundings. I still consider the kennel my safe space, but the only time you’ll find me in there is when I’m resting or my foster parents need to leave home. I don’t mind that at all!

I’ve learned that pets, rubs, and scratches are nice, but the jury is still out on cuddles! I like to go for long walks in the woods and car rides are worth it when we end up at the beach. Please adopt me!”

Katie is still looking for her forever home 🩷 Katie is 1.5 yrs old and 12lbs! Unfortunately, Katie came in with fleas, which caused her to lose lots of hair. Luckily, her fleas have been treated and she is quickly growing hair back and looking as cute as ever!

Sugar went on an outing today, had a blast, and showed just how amazing she is!! 🩷 Here’s what the volunteer that took her on an adventure has to say:

“Sugar is a 6 year old pit mix she is looking for a foster or foster to adopt after she gets fixed. This poor girl was found a stray in MAY and no one came back for her and she has been stuck in the shelter with no interest. She gets overlooked because she is big girl and super excited girl when she first meets you. She is dog friendly once she gets over her excitement of new friends. She absolutely loves people and loves riding in the car. She is completely house trained.
Today was her first day out of the shelter since May. She truly was amazing in public she went into Home Depot, Lowe’s, Petco, Tractor Supply, Tjmaxx. We walked beaverdam and everyone loved her and so did some dogs friends she met.
Someone please give this girl a chance for a forever home as she enters her senior years. ❤️🐶🐶”
