Bert did so well today learning to sit and lay down and let the world pass by at Starbucks. We went during the morning rush and he did phenominal with ignoring the people as they came into the store and staying in place. Does your dog go to cafes too? Let me see piutures! This is so important when helping clients with behaviors like reactivity. We have to remember that behind the barking and lunging displays is fear. When dogs display these distance increasing behaviors they are meeting their need for space and alleviating the fear of the unknown. If we can meet the need and treat the cause, the behavior will follow. 🐾
