More is not better !!!
One Team / Group, and one Team only !!! I preach it all the time.
Thank you Buddha Dog Rescue & Recovery for the clarity on this oh so important subject.
We’ve had quite a few questions lately about our policy on not taking on lost dog cases when other groups or professionals are already involved. So let’s clear the air.
It’s not because we’re territorial or unwilling to collaborate…quite the opposite. The issue is that lost dog recovery is extremely strategic, and when multiple people or groups are operating simultaneously with different methods, it can actually hurt the case more than help it. You’ve heard the phrase “too many cooks in the kitchen” - well, in lost dog recovery, that’s not just a saying, it’s a cautionary tale.
Each group has its own approach, tools, timing, and philosophy. What one team sets up may conflict with what another is doing. Instead of being helpful, it becomes counterproductive — and the dog is the one who pays the price.
Also, let’s be real: There are a lot of lost dogs out there. If multiple groups pile onto a single case while other dogs wait for help, it’s not the best use of resources. More isn’t always better…in fact, in this work, less is often more.
This is why we ask upfront: “Are you already working with another group?” And unfortunately, some owners say no — even when they are — because they believe the more hands on deck, the better. We get it, the panic is real. But that lack of transparency leads to confusion, crossed wires, and yes, some very frustrated toes getting stepped on.
So no — our policy is not personal, not dramatic, and definitely not some conspiracy. It’s just based on years of experience, a deep desire to get dogs home safely, and knowing what actually works.
Thanks for understanding — and thanks even more for caring about these pups as much as we do. 💛🐾
