A friend messaged me yesterday after he found this guy dumped in a parking lot.
I took him to an emergency vet last night and hopefully he’ll recover.

Wanted to take this time to educate about turtles/tortoise shells.
They have feeling throughout their shell. Just like your fingernails, their shells are made out of keratin.
If you scratch their shell, they can feel it as if you were touching their skin.
Cracks can cause an infection, but with proper treatment they can heal. It may take several weeks, months or even years.
Their shell is full of nerve ending and blood vessels.

If you see one of our shelled friends with a cracked shell, please notify someone to help.

Be aware of any eggs you may uncover in your yard.
It’s egg laying season for turtles, gopher tortoises and snakes.

If you find any eggs, please DO NOT pick them up or rotate them as you will kill them!

Some commonly misidentified snakes in Florida.

The rhymes for coral snakes don’t always work as some will vary in colors, use the rule of thumb that they usually always have a black head. When in question message us and we will help you.
Never handle a snake unless you know for certain what it is.

Cottonmouths are easily identified by the “zoro” mask and their bullseye pattern.

Snakes are on the move. Be aware of your surroundings and use caution.
Please don’t kill snakes even if you know they’re venomous.
We will relocate snakes free of charge in the local area.
