Greyhounds Only, Inc.

Greyhounds Only, Inc. Greyhounds Only, Inc.'s Mission:
Match retired racing greyhounds with adoptive families in Illinois. However, there are always exceptions!

Some facts about retired greyhounds:

1) Retired racing greyhounds are gentle, sweet, good-natured dogs who can live in nearly every environment - from a city apartment to a sprawling country estate. Our adoption representatives help adopters find the hound that is right for them.

2) Greyhounds retire from their racing careers generally when they are anywhere between 2-5 years of age. Considering

the average lifespan of a greyhound is 10-14 years, these pups still a lot of living left to do!

3) Considered to be 40-mph couch potatoes, most greyhounds are your stereotypical lazy dogs. Even an active greyhound typically has a lower energy level than many other breeds.

First and foremost – a gargantuan to everyone who has donated to join and assist with her emergency medical bills! We mean it when we say every single dollar (nay – penny) counts. So far, we have reached the 44% mark of our goal, which is nothing to sneeze at nor look down one’s nose at. It’s real, hard-earned money you gave to help our Tammy. And it’s a really big deal to all of us – especially her.

Secondly, we’re hoping to reach those of you who think donating $2 is silly to ask that you will please reconsider! $2 – that’s it, just $2 is all that we’re asking for. Because it adds up, and we know if every person who saw this post were to give just two dollars to support Tammy’s recovery that we could get there. And for those of you who have gotten us where we are now – you all are our rocks! We asked and you showed up. Appreciation isn’t a strong enough word.

And if you can’t spare $2, we get it (we really, really do), and to those who don’t have it, remember that an act as simple as sharing this fundraiser to your social network or talking about it with your loved ones helps, too! Rally for Tammy – Tammy deserves it (we’ve never known something to be truer in our entire lives).

Donate by visiting https://www.zeffy.com/en-US/donation-form/tammy-needs-your-help now. GO community – you never cease to amaze us, thank you all! Tammy says 👀

$2 for Tammy!

Become a member of today!

Just as sweet Tammy was settling into GO's adoption program, crisis struck. Tammy suddenly and without warning developed a life-threatening condition known as GDV (gastric dilation and volvulus), which can rapidly become fatal without immediate treatment.

Luckily, Tammy had guardian angels by her side that day, and within moments of symptoms appearing, she was rushed to the emergency veterinarian for life-saving surgery. Thanks to quick action, an incredible medical team, and a dedicated group of Greyhounds Only volunteers, Tammy is expected to make a full recovery! It truly was a team effort in every sense of the word.

She is resting comfortably in foster care, surrounded by people making sure she feels safe, loved, and cared for while she recovers.

But Team Tammy still needs you.

Tammy's life-saving surgery and hospitalization have already resulted in over $10,000 in bills, with additional costs expected for follow-up care, monitoring, medications, special food, and everything she needs during recovery.

Why $2?

Because if every one of our followers gave just $2, together we could help cover Tammy's emergency surgery and recovery—and hopefully some of her upcoming medical bills too.

For just $2 (or a little more if you feel like it 😉), you can join Team Tammy!

In exchange, you will get:
• A spot on Team Tammy
• A digital certificate featuring sweet Tammy
• And most importantly...the knowledge that you helped save a lovely girl who still has so much life and love ahead of her

To become an official member of Team Tammy - and get your digital certificate - please click the fundraiser below to donate!

Tammy and all of us at GO thank you for being part of Team Tammy. ❤️

*If you have already donated but have not received your digital certificate, please check your Spam folder. Thank you, GO friends!

It looks like a baby deer, sounds like a broken European police siren, has ears that are one-thousand-times softer than a baby bunny, is world-record-shatteringly fast, and has the desire to use its phenomenal quickness…well, almost never. Greyhounds are the name and weapons-grade napping is their game! A dash of drama. LOADS of laughs. Come meet one – you could even meet more than one!

Greyhounds Only will have some long dogs lounging at Kriser's Natural Pet on Clybourn (2055 N. Clybourn, Chicago) on Sunday, June 21st, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., and they want to see you. Yes, you! (They asked for you, specifically.) So, put it in your calendar and come meet one of the coolest creatures imaginable. Because you know what they say: everyone says they have the best dog – and everyone is right! Except if they have a greyhound. Greyhounds are better (KIDDING! But maybe not, no – we are.)

Already in on the good stuff that is greyhounds? Have a hound and want to help us spread the word about how every aspect of your life has improved now that you have one? Volunteers can sign up at https://www.signupgenius.com/go/9040B48AFA92EABF94-64304992-krisers #/ now!

Tomorrow: We release the hounds…on Glenview!

Well, not so much “release” as make a press-worthy appearance at Kriser's Natural Pet, complete with numerous photographic opportunities so that you can show every person you know that their heads really do look exactly like bicycle seats. (Like, EXACTLY.)

📍 2727 Pfingsten Rd., Glenview, IL, 60026
🗓 Sunday, May 17th
⏰ 11 AM–2 PM

There is a certain large, awkward magic that comes with meeting a greyhound in person. Did you know they have the biggest heart of any breed of dog? Greyhounds have uniquely large, heavy hearts—often 10–15% larger than other breeds—and a thicker left ventricular wall, which serves as a powerful pump for their high blood pressure and specialized cardiovascular system. What did you think we meant by having the biggest heart? Oh, yeah, they certainly have that too. One look at their faces and you might even believe that they care a little too much.

We want the public to get the variety experience when it comes to the spectrum of greyhound personalities, so if you are a greyhound keeper and would like to attend, we would be forever indebted to you! Volunteers, can sign-up here:

Remember: The hounds won’t be mad if you don’t come…just quietly disappointed. It’s on brand for them – part of their gentle way.

Bring your chairs, bring your blankets - think big picnic vibes...and join the party!

While there will be some available picnic tables at Pollyanna Social, if early interest is any indication, they may fill up quickly! Fret not...there is plenty of greenspace for you and your hound(s) to relax and hang out on. We recommend bringing picnic-style gear (chairs, blankets, etc.) to keep you and your pup comfy!

We can’t wait to see everyone on Saturday! 🍻🍺🐾

Greyhounds Only is so pleased to once again partner with Pollyanna Brewing Company, who will be hosting the 10th Annual Greyhounds in the Park, benefiting Greyhounds Only!

We are thrilled to be back at Pollyanna Social, located at 326 Main St, Lemont, IL 60439 on Saturday, May 16th from noon to 4 PM. The event will be held directly across from Social in the park, with plenty of room for your hounds to stretch out, laze about in the grass, and soak up the sun! Pollyanna will generously donate a portion of the day’s proceeds to Greyhounds Only.

*Please note: the park where the event takes place is near train tracks in case you have a noise-sensitive dog you were thinking about bringing with you. There were only a few trains that went through last year, but it’s something to consider if you believe your hound might be uncomfortable.

Event highlights include:
- Raise Your Beer Live Auction
- 50/50 Raffle
- Music by Billy Denton
- Jarochitos Food Truck
- Jewelry by Elizabeth Fisher
- Spa Services by Stacie Matthiscyk (Nail trims, ear cleaning, & teeth brushing)
- Specialty Crowler Singles available for pre-order and pickup at the event (order yours now at https://order.toasttab.com/online/pollyanna-brewing-company and Pollyanna will donate a portion of the proceeds for each sale to GO)
- Specialty cocktails, celebrating the journey our hounds have taken to get to us:
o “Appalachian Greyhound” (West Virginia)
o “Sandown Park Sangria” (Australia)
o “Emerald Isle Apple Spritz” (Ireland)

If you have a greyhound, come and join us!
If you don’t have a greyhound but want to hang out with greyhounds, come and join us!
If you want to learn more about the greyhound breed, come and join us!
If you love delicious, award-winning beer, come and join us!
If you want to support Greyhounds Only, come and join us!
The bottom line: mark your calendars and join us at Pollyanna Social in Lemont this Saturday, May 16th!

Last but not least, an enormous thank-you to Pollyanna for its continued support and to our extraordinary volunteers for all that they do. We are endlessly grateful for it.
