We're gearing up for our next round of hounds, who should be joining us on Mother's Day weekend, and that means we'll need more foster supplies! Foster Coordinator extraordinaire, Melissa, has made a list of the most-needed items, and these include more foster crates, plus washable beds or crate liners, elevated feeding dishes, and blankets, as we've had many brand new foster families step up recently! This next round of fosters will also likely use up our supply of food so we'll start needing more for future foster hounds! And, as always, if you're interested in fostering with WAG please let us know so we can continue to bring in more hounds!

Both our Chewy and Amazon wish lists have been updated with the new items we need, and you can shop there to have items shipped directly to Melissa so she can begin distributing them right away! Check the comments if QR codes aren't your thing. Alternatively, you can bring any of these supplies to our upcoming walk on 4/26 at Bluff Point in Groton!

It is with greyt, heavy hearts that we share that foster Walker (WK By Pass) has crossed over the Rainbow Bridge.

Walker was a sweet boy who returned to WAG back in the summer of 2022 after some changes in his home. He spent these recent years with two different, wonderful foster moms-- Krista and Nicole-- being loved as we searched for his forever home. He began struggling with some health issues, age-related and otherwise, but was otherwise a happy, spry old man; at one of our walks last year, he was effortlessly out-pacing some of the younger hounds in attendance!

Unfortunately, Walker's health recently began declining. His bloodwork was unremarkable, and there was no obvious cause of this decline. After careful consideration for his quality of life with the information from his amazing veterinary team, the WAG Board made the difficult decision to humanely send him across the Rainbow Bridge. Walker spent the day being spoiled and loved on by his foster family before saying goodbye. He was 12 years old.

Thank you Nicole Stango & family, and the fantastic team at Stone Veterinary Hospital for taking such wonderful care of our boy. He is greytly missed already.

Did you know that black dogs are often overlooked in shelters? It’s called the “Black Dog Effect,” and unfortunately, it means dogs like Tyler sometimes wait longer for their forever homes.

But let’s set the record straight—black dogs are just as loving, goofy, and wonderful as any other! And Tyler is no exception.

🐾 He’s affectionate, well-behaved, and an expert at snuggling.
🐾 Loves walks, but also happy to lounge all day.
🐾 Great with greyhounds and respectful kids!

Tyler has been waiting far too long for a home. Could you be the one to break the "Black Dog Effect" and give this sweet boy the love he deserves?

Last but not least, we're excited to introduce the sweetie who started this round of hounds to join WAG! Meet Star (CET Star)!

This almost 3-year-old white and brindle beauty is already living up to her name—she’s an absolute star! Star is a total sweetheart with a gentle nature and a love for belly rubs. She’s settling in wonderfully, eating well, taking treats like a pro, and impressing everyone with her excellent leash manners. On the ride to CT, she was very particular about her space, so she may be best as an only dog, or in a home with a dog who will respect her firm boundaries.

With her sweet personality and loving nature, Star is sure to brighten any home. Could she be the perfect match for yours?

Interested in Star or one of our other adoptable greyhounds? Visit our website to submit an application, or reach out to your adoption representative if you already have one on file—we’d love to help you find your perfect match!

Thinking about fostering? It’s a rewarding way to help a retired racer on their journey to a forever home. Send us a DM or email [email protected] to learn more about getting involved!

Day two of introductions! Meet Annie (GLS Only Her)!

This stunning almost 2-year-old white and brindle girl has settled into retirement fabulously! Annie has already mastered the art of belly rubs and enjoys every bit of attention she can get. She’s also learning the finer points of treat-taking—gently accepting them by hand like the polite lady she is!

Her foster family says she’s getting along great with their resident greyhound and embracing pet life with enthusiasm (though she might need a little help slowing down at mealtime!).

Could Annie be the perfect fit for your home? Come meet her and our other recent retirees at our Meet & Greet at the Farmington Tractor Supply on 3/22!

Interested in Annie or one of our other adoptable greyhounds? Visit our website to submit an application, or reach out to your adoption representative if you already have one on file—we’d love to help you find your perfect match!
