He is completely under control in a stay, and I would never let him go forward and rush anybody- human or dog- but his bark does come in handy when we're hiking... it keeps people and dogs at bay and helps me feel safe.

If you're minding your own business, I'll tell him to relax or cool it (which means nothing to him, and isn't intended to get him to stop, it's just something to say). If I feel intimidated, I'll say he's not ok with you/your dog and we need a wide berth. 🤷‍♀️

I love that he alerts me that something is up ahead. You see his look back-- where after alerting, he's waiting for me to call him back into a side of the trail sit like I always do.

Duke (pittie puppy) lives with 2 small boys, and tends to join in their raucous antics, resulting in interactions that are too rough (puppy nipping & jumping).

During class, a young boy we happened upon was eager to pet the dogs and assist us, and Duke maintained his manners despite the controlled distraction! Good boy, Duke!

And shout out to the lovely woman who recognized AJ from this page and came over to say hi!!! 💙🐾

Come hike with us- virtually! Such a beautiful, sunny Friday to close out the week!

I like the 6 big ones in front of me, where I can see them... the 2 littles I keep close for safety.

Millie (golden retriever) had class at Home Depot. She did amazing with her leash walking!!!

Luna (visla) came along as a distraction dog for Millie.

These two were fast friends. 🩷💜

Per usual, first we expected Millie to work: ignore Luna and focus on walking with her mom... When she was successful, then we let her play with Luna as a reward.

A big thank you to Luna, who has transitioned from 'puppy-in-training' herself to now being reliable enough to help mentor the younger, up & coming puppers. 🎉
