Both ends of life's spectrum: AJ, age 14, and Theo, just 7 months, had a lovely hike together where we worked on Theo's off leash manners.

Here comes 2 minutes of rapid-fire goofy German Shepherd smiles. 💙

An important step in dog training is the generalization process: where a dog applies what he has learned to ALL environments and situations.

Tango-- being a guardian breed and thus naturally wary-- requires a great deal of exposure to generalize that all people, all dogs, and all environments are safe.

Look at the variety of places he's gone, all the dogs he has worked with, and all the people he has met to ensure he remains a safe, stable, and social dog.

Teddy has been doing SO WELL with his leash walking that we have begun incorporating other neutral dogs into his lessons so he can practice being calm and still listening to his mom under distraction. 🐾🐾

Zephyr (white standard poodle puppy) had his first field trip & group walk today. 🐩

I am often asked what my favorite dog is to train, and while I looooove all things poodle & doodle, my favorite dog to train is any 8 week old puppy that just arrived home.

Those dogs have no bad habits to undo, and you can simply teach them what is expected of them and how they should behave.

I have been working with Zephyr since his arrival, and was in contact with his momma before he even arrived.

He blended into today's walk almost seamlessly, held his sit with the group for a photo, and relaxed into a down when we took a break even though it was his first time meeting the other 2 dogs (he knows AJ of course). And he's not even 6 months old! Great job, little Zeph!

Check out Teddy's new and improved walk! 🐾🐾

The last time his momma walked him, he pulled the leash right out of her hands! Even before that dramatic moment, he was frantic: zigzagging, stress panting, frothing at the mouth- completely and utterly overstimulated.

Now he is much calmer, and walking him is actually enjoyable. 🧡
