Congrats to my mother Dorothy for receiving this award, and for doing great things along with being recognized by her colleagues who nominated her.
Goodell Recognized for Extension Programming
Dorothy Goodell, a program coordinator with the Iowa State University (ISU) Extension and Outreach/Humboldt County office, has received the County Professional Excellence Award. This honors people who help provide agricultural and natural resources programming through ISU Extension.
Goodell has partnered with local farmers and the area Extension field agronomist to provide annual crop walks, which average 20 attendees. She created a new program titled “Next Generation Farmer,” in consultation with an advisory committee of local leaders, which she has led for four years. This program strives to involve new or young farmers and provides information ag lending, estate planning, crop insurance, grain marketing and more.
Goodell also partners with the regional ISU Extension farm management specialist, as well as local insurance specialists and farm loan officers, to deliver this series of workshops. In addition, she partners with adjacent counties to provide Extension programs such as the Master Conservationist program and the well-water testing program.
“Dorothy works hard to provide ag and natural resource programs, develop new programs to meet clients’ needs, and recruit new participants who may not have much experience working with ISU Extension,” said Angie Rieck-Hinz, an ISU Extension field agronomist. “She truly embodies the spirit of Iowa State University Extension and Outreach to serve Iowans.”
